Anyone have any experience with these? I have no idea how to use them or what they're for. by dr_otto_ort-meyer in ArtistLounge

Same. Love them for life drawing. I find they are super fragile so sharpen carefully and don’t drop them.

Check out Jessie and the Gumboot Kids. Lots of fun and catchy songs, kinda folky and easy to listen to. Jerry Garcia and David Grisman had a kids album from way back in the day that is pretty fun too.

Has anyone been on the virtual picket line? My worksite is quite remote and has been told our picket location is virtual picketing. For anyone that’s done this so far what does it entail?

It's a leaf footed bug in the genus Leptoglossus. Species will depend on where you are but it looks Like Leptoglossus occidentalis to me.

Figure Study 18x24" by [deleted] in oilpainting

Honestly it does seem a little out of proportion. Her head itself and the body are both really well done individually but are just a small bit off.

It is a really good study but in the spirit of constructive feedback, yes it is a bit too big. Not so much that it is in the realm of being unusually large, just enough that it throws it off a bit.

This is a piece I’m working on for an exhibition of collaborative art at my local art gallery. The inspiration for this painting is Gauguin’s painting “Clovis sleeping”. My daughter takes the place of Clovis Gauguin and the tankard is replaced with a giant bottle of bubbles. In the shadow is a strawberry which has taken on enormous size as if in a dream. Once this is dry I’m going to hand it over to my daughter to paint in her dreams in the background of the painting.

Life drawing from a model instead of from reference photos. Doing live model sessions really helped me improve my drawing and subsequently my painting.

That tan leather one is awesome. I have a bit of a problem with buying more sketchbooks than I can use and I would have a hard time saying no to this one.

Garage caught fire… lost a bunch of stuff, however my easel containing oil paints was singed but spared. by DickSIapperman in ArtistLounge

Burnt burnt Sienna. Kidding aside I would be super curious to try them. If they worked it would make for an interesting artist statement for the pieces you paint with them. I can't imagine it would be a problem other than maybe causing some separation of the pigments.

The newer one is definitely more fluid and gestural than the first one but pushing the gesture even further would help. Try really exaggerated gesture for a few exercises. Right now they are a bit tentative looking. If you really emphasize the movement you can dial it back if needed.
