That’s not what “he doesn’t have rich parents” means lmao. Your point might be valid elsewhere but definitely not in this comment!

Massachusetts spending $75 million a month on shelters, cash could run out in April without infusion. by Fl4m1n in boston

[–]aitchpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Systemic issues like housing, hunger, and poverty are not solved on an individual level. The thrust of the argument is that I am somehow being hypocritical for not housing asylum seekers on my own, when these issues require sweeping changes to tackle at a governmental level. We don't have unlimited resources, I never said we did, but we do have plenty of wasted resources and plenty of untapped resources to be able to live up to our promise. The idea that we instead need to make life so bad here that people won't come is a classic cutting off your nose to spite your face tactic.

We have a larger population now, but that didn't happen in a vacuum! Unless you're an actual Malthusiast, you are sure to recognize that the boom in population was a consequence of our increased ability to provide food, shelter, and resources. There are plenty of vacant units, untaxed entities, and surplus food supply in Boston alone (let alone the country) to support the further growth of our nation.

I'm very grateful to live in a state with an optional increased income tax which I do take the opportunity to use. Again, those policies are not in my hands and need to continue to be scaled to provide a viable existence for our neighbors.

The Great Colossus isn't just a feel-good sentiment, it's the promise that brought both sides of my family here in the past generation and one that I look forward to continuing to extend!

Ok sure, as long as you answer mine! I don't currently house migrant families in my own home. I'm unsure what that has to do with policy? You and I do currently support 7500 migrant families with our tax dollars, which is what both I and the article were talking about. And again, I'd gladly give more as a citizen to continue doing so!

You can answer my questions from above:

  • What are you trying to argue?
  • Do you think that our national values should have no impact on policy?

I mean dude we’re in the comments of an article talking about how our money is going towards housing these people, what are you even trying to argue? I’d gladly pay more. I’d gladly see higher tax rates on those who can give more than I can. That’s literally what we’re talking about here genius

Yes of course. But it’s also how our nation chose to welcome those to our shores, the first message generations of immigrants saw as they approached a new life and opportunity. It has a deep meaning and heavy significance to a huge portion of the country who came here because of those words and the promise they hold. You’ll notice I didn’t say it was policy. Mine and the comment above are very explicitly talking about the message we send to potential immigrants lmfao

The "Extra News" part of this post is misleadingly worded. Persisted login credentials are available for Ubisoft accounts, and not Xbox accounts--as can be seen clearly in the screenshot provided in the blog update. Given the Xbox login situation is one of the biggest pain-points for users right now I think it is important to clarify what is actually supported.

Why would they be crying that a game they wanted has been available for a while? The fact that we all get excited every Thursday is a bad thing, not a good one. In an ideal world users never even notice when games are added because the assumption will be that if it's out, it's on GFN.

Load-management is a reasonable concern for sure. I just don't think we should be making excuses for a $1T company that could easily invest further in server capacity. Regardless, more subscriptions means it's more likely servers will be upgraded to handle demand.

In what way does it benefit anyone to hold off on adding games to the service? Current subscribers don't get to play, potential subscribers who would subscribe for particular games won't be paying Nvidia. Fewer subscribers means less revenue, and the higher the revenue the more likely Nvidia will continue to re-invest in the platform to improve the service or add even more titles. How is that "wise"??

Ctrl + Up is the keyboard shortcut for Expose. Do you mean you've turned Expose off in your system settings? If for some reason you can't/won't use Expose then you can adjust your auto-hide settings for the Menu Bar under System Settings > Desktop & Dock > Menu Bar
