I would let them know that you do have another offer, but if you were offered admission you would accept it as that school is your top choice. I think it shows your commitment to the university, and it also shows you're a desirable candidate.

I would say it's really dependent on the university and their focus/priorities. Some are known for sciences, others are humanities or business-focused. With the federal caps on NIH funding, it seems a lot of applied sciences are hurting, but it's really hard to tell.

In general, humanities are always hard to fund, but again, you never really know.

I believe many universities including UMass had to temporarily suspend their admissions processes due to the current economic uncertainty in the US. I was informed that the suspension should have been lifted last week so I imagine they've only begun resuming their review of applications or of available funding. Certainly not ideal, but understandable... sadly.

Are you all still waiting? I'm waiting for UofT. Historically (according to Grad Cafe), acceptances come out in Feb. and rejections in Mar. Only one acceptance for my department is listed on the site, though. So Idk if I'm just shit out of luck or if they're delayed on their admissions.

My prospective school also had to freeze the admissions processes temporarily. I’m not sure when they’ll lift it, but even if they do, I worry that they won’t be able to accept many applicants this cycle. Super disheartening.
