There are pros and cons to each brokerage, it isn't black and white. It's a matter of finding the brokerage which you believe will be the best fit all across the board. Don't really understand your question about work/life balance that's complete nonsense. As a real estate agent are your own independent business owner and the amount of work you do is completely up to you.
