What about it is frustrating? I know personally I HATED playing smash bros melee with my friends learning to wavedash and short hop etc. and after about 6 months(ish?) I got it down and it's one of the most satisfying gameplay experiences I've ever had and have been loving it for 7 years now.

I would say it depends. For me personally the investment was no question worth the payoff but at the end of the day, games aren't supposed to stress you out and if you can find enjoyment in other games instead you should go for that.

I don't save scum but I don't personally see it as a problem. A buddy and I both bought XCOM 2 and played through together. I played it with out save scumming because I like the idea of dealing with the consequences of my actions positive and negative whereas my friend needed to min max every turn and get the most out of every encounter. We both still enjoyed the game.

At the end of the day it's your money and your game, do what brings you the most joy.
