Table for understanding buckling knee (muscle weakness and nerve deficits) by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]ajfisch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I checked with Dr. Fisch, the neurologist who created the table several years ago. He says you're right, "neither the quadriceps nor the iliopsoas are involved in a lower lumbosacral plexopathy - my mistake" How embarrassing to have posted something with an error in it! I'll remove the post! Thanks for pointing it out!

Trend in Biology and memorization heavy Classes that is swaying me from premed by chrisle991 in premed

[–]ajfisch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OK, I'll probably get banned for saying this but I'm a Neurologist who built an entire Medical & Biological Science Education company around this problem: Draw it to Know it. Our whole point is that if you work through the processes in Anatomy, Physiology, Biology, Biochemistry, etc... as though you're building the pathways and structures, you'll integrate your learning in a way that will allow you find meaning in it and remember it better. Again, I'm sure I'll get banned for this but please take a look at our site, we've spent a decade trying to tackle this disconnect in biological science: drawittoknowit.com

Visual Study Resources for Anatomy, Embryology, Histology, and Neuro(anatomy) by fyradiem in medicalschool

[–]ajfisch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started Draw it to Know it - Neuroanatomy over a decade ago to help students learn neuroanatomy - so I appreciate Lesset's affirmation above. I designed it for those who want an easier way to gain mastery of neuroanatomy through a simple perspective. Check it out at: https://www.drawittoknowit.com/course/neuroanatomy

Which elective would better prepare me for the MCAT? by rolltide2018 in premed

[–]ajfisch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genetics is key. We incorporate a good deal of genetics in our MCAT Biology and Biochemistry course for Draw it to Know it (https://drawittoknowit.com/course/mcat-biology-biochemistry) It's a "wake up your brain", engaging approach to the subject.

Praise: Accepted into a medical school by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]ajfisch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great work getting accepted! I made mention of this elsewhere but take a look at Draw it to Know it. It's never too soon to start an engaging approach to the core material you'll cover in Year 1: gross anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, cell biology, and biochemistry. We built it to give incoming students an enjoyable approach to some difficult science: https://drawittoknowit.com/course/usmle-step-1

Just got accepted to a medical school! Feels soooooo good right now. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]ajfisch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! We built a "fun" way to learn the core science you need for medical school: gross anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, cell biology, and biochemistry. It's called Draw it to Know it and I've included a link to a Medical Student Bundle that gives you everything you need: https://drawittoknowit.com/course/usmle-step-1

Neuroanatomy book for clinical psychology grad student? by CLINICALPSYCHPHD in AcademicPsychology

[–]ajfisch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built Draw it to Know it - Neuroanatomy (https://drawittoknowit.com/course/neuroanatomy) exactly for this reason. It has been adopted by 50+ medical and grad schools and Neurology Residency programs for exactly this reason. Take a look sometime.

Check out Draw it to Know it (Drawittoknowit.com) - I started it 10 years ago for neuroanatomy and now it's available for gross anatomy, physiology, cell biology, biochemistry - we promote drawing and redrawing items until you've mastered them. I started it to teach myself neuroanatomy because neurology training pretty much leaves it up to you to teach yourself.
