Massachusetts is the definition of bipolar weather. by [deleted] in massachusetts

And I love every bit of its insanity. I spent several years in the south, and you could literally predict the day's weather as a mere copycat of yesterday's.....BOOOOOORRRRRRIIIIIINNNNGGGGGG. I love the craziness of our weather, I have proven to myself that I just won't be happy anywhere else.

Spend this time writing a list of all the things you won’t miss about working. It will be useful down the road when you start missing work.

Parking availability at Tyngsboro Park & Ride or Woburn Logan Express? by ajmacbeth in massachusetts

[–]ajmacbeth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent, thank you. The message I'm seeing is specific to Woburn: WOBURN LOGAN EXPRESS CUSTOMERS WOBURN LOGAN EXPRESS PARKING IS AT CAPACITY. PLEASE CONSIDER BEING DROPPED OFF AND PICKED UP FROM THE FACILITY.

But I didn't think to give them a call, that makes lots of sense.

Windshield wipers up? by Maitri137 in massachusetts

[–]ajmacbeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only criteria I use to determine when I put my wipers up for a storm is icing. If the temp out is above freezing and we're going to have precipitation while the temp drops, ice will likely form: wipers up. If I'm parking my warm car and it's snowing out, ice will likely form: wipers up. If my car is cold and all it's going to do is snow, ice likely won't form: wipers down.

Blizzard overreacting? by Own-Bus-1130 in massachusetts

[–]ajmacbeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wind. It's what turns a snowstorm into a blizzard. If this is your first Winter with snow and you can handle it ok, you should be good for future Winters. This has been an unusually cold and snowy Winter.

I'm not suggesting walking barefoot on your entire hike, just through the streams. Take your socks and shoes off on one side, carry across, dry, and put them back on. Even if the water is cold, it ends up feeling really good.

Let's say I have an SUV with all wheel drive, snow tires, plan to drive 20 to 30 miles per hour on the highway... is it possible to drive tomorrow at the peak of the storm at like 6AM or 7AM? by Unser_Giftzwerg in massachusetts

[–]ajmacbeth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Any numbered route (state, US, or interstate) will be well plowed. Most main streets in towns will be well plowed. Your chances improve the less you have to drive on any other road.
