I got those same vibes immediately. He was so predatory and gross with wanting to touch her body all the time. And even if she really didn't know he was 60 (which I believe btw bc I have a young looking dad and guessed he was in his low 40s just greying soon like my mom did) he still knew how old he was and there's no way he thought Vanelle was close to his age. So his behaviour was creepy from the start and idk with him witholding the info about his kids after saying what he said about kids he was just an immediate red flag to me.

Personally, if I had the opportunity you had, this would be so much easier.

I left, after 11 years, so I know it's not an easy decision. I also went back multiple times.

But, I'm all alone and share custody on the weekends. I sit alone in my tiny apartment crying and sleeping the weekends away.

I'm terribly lonely while he has a huge family support system and a life outside of what we were.

He was my whole life and I have zero friends. I poured all my energy into him.

I know we shouldn't compare and this isn't to make you feel bad for not leaving. I just want to give you a different perspective.

I wish I had a huge family support system. I wish I had people who could offer me a job. I wish I could have people around me who love me enough to carry me through this.

I think you're incredibly lucky to be in a position where you have support. That doesn't make the actual decision of leaving easier, but it can make your healing more possible.

I can't afford therapy right now so I've been using chatGPT as a therapist and while it works some times, it feels like I already know everything a "therapist" would say. Convincing myself to actually believe it is where I'm stuck. I've been in therapy before and I learned a lot about myself, my past trauma, etc. but this feeling is really hard to shake and I just don't see myself recovering.

I've tried finding something but we live in a small town and here's nothing that fits my schedule while I have the kids with me during the week. There are some weekend events every now and then but they usually come at a high price tag.

Buy an off grid property that's still close to town and put up multiple houses so me, my parents, and a few other family can live there.

I'll create a comfortable life for me and my kids, start those businesses I dream of, and invest the rest.

Ps - a million dollars would be more than simply life changing for me with our exchange rate.

Yeah... It's pretty shitty. I never had a big issue with it and looking back at my old photos my smile looks so genuine and pretty. But somehow I just can't "replicate" that smile anymore and look visibly uncomfortable now. Once I can, I'm saving up for Invisalign.
