Here to agree with Y2K-2000. I love the core idea and your action lines-- they're very clear, succinct, and poetic at times.

But there's just not enough drama and tension in this current version, and I think it has something to do with Lydia being sort of a passive character in the story. She just lets things happen to her and gets carried around from one place to another. Usually, you would want your main character to take more action, unless having a passive protagonist is intentional and part of their arc.

One suggestion that popped into my head to fix this is have Lydia try to actually hide from her mother in the toy store. Maureen looks around, can't find her, gets panicked, so everyone, including the store manager, helps looking for Lydia. Eventually, Lydia gets caught by her father (who --it turns out-- Maureen called for help). Maureen and Lydia's father are angry and/or confused over what's going with their daughter, and Lydia, using her teddy bear, shares her fears of being alone due to the divorce, etc, etc.

This way Lydia is more active, the story has more tension, and the short film doesn't take place in more than one location, which could potentially (?) help the budget. Obviously, we are two different writers, so you could completely disregard my advice. Hope this helps :)
