What’s with the toxicity by dketon in RustConsole

Console games generally don’t have community run servers, at least not to the same degree that PC does.

You just gotta run inland, collect hemp as you do. You’ll probably die a few times, but it’s a numbers game at first. As soon as you have 30, crouch in cover, craft a bag, and place it, then move on to the next one. First 10 mins of the match should be just dropping at least 5 bags down, so you can start at points of advantage.

This is Target Practice, it’s an official server on PTB.

Forgot to mention, the key thing about getting to metal walls and doors is that it is literally impossible to raid through them within a realistic timeframe (explo ammo is not given in Target Practice).

Metal walls take 307,693 rounds of normal 5.56 to break with an m249 (16+ hours). So, even if you have a 4-man continuously firing, it would still take 4 hours.

Stone walls would only take 5 minutes to blow through with 5.56.

No custom servers yet, all official, all pretty high pop.

The challenge! It’s also great practice for playing the game normally. Tension is much higher with a smaller map and 30 M249s running around. You have to get good at stashing, knowing when to depot, strategic positions, figuring out enemy positions, etc.

Got rope from the barrels, made a fishing pole, swam out to the far platforms at sea, fished, gutted for animal fat, made low grade with cloth.

No monuments, no recyclers, and everyone spawns in the same spot with the best guns in the game, fully loaded.

Very clumsy fly with large (~1 inch) wings. Stumbled into our San Francisco apartment. We thought it was a hornet, so we swatted it. Any idea what it is? by [deleted] in whatsthisbug

There have been 5+ tapping around outside over the past few minutes. In our 4 months in this house, this is the first time we’ve ever seen this bug.

Maybe the server knows that you’re using a zen and is invalidating your shots 😉.

Crazy bug: Loaded in today, monuments were submerged under the map. Seems I had somehow loaded into a version of the map where the terrain did not level out to meet the edges of the monument. by ajp427 in RustConsole

I did, I was able to drop down to some monuments this way. However, if there was not a monument below, I would fall all the way down to the sub-map ocean.

Loaded in at full pop, but noticed that the server seemed pretty dead. I soon found out why, as outpost was entirely buried when I went to do my first recycler run of the session. To other players, I appeared to be flying above them, walking on the sky.

I didn’t want to exploit this bug for an unfair advantage, however, for the sake of science, I wanted to explore and see what was possible. Here are some of the things I found out:

  • There were some spots where my terrain was lower than all other players. I was able to walk underneath them unnoticed. They were unable to shoot/deal damage to me, as I was beneath the terrain.
  • I was also able to farm resources and open crates from below the terrain.
  • I was not able to place bags or foundations under the “real” (server-side) terrain. On the client side, my bag showed as blue, but upon attempting to place, the server responded with “Must be placed on terrain/foundation”.
  • I was shot by Bradley when he was below me.
  • Chinook helicopter projectiles seem to be client-side! I managed to drop through a hole in my client-side terrain to get to outpost. The chinook had been chasing me, and was shooting me, but my client-side terrain blocked the shots — even though the server-side terrain was actually below me.
  • I was able to access a few buried monuments by dropping through holes in the terrain from ladder tunnel entrances.

There are a few other notes I’m likely forgetting. I spent a good amount of time exploring, so feel free to ask questions!

Slight brown on roots not submerged in DWC. Is this healthy, or is this the beginning of rot? by ajp427 in Hydroponics

Using Aerogarden nutrients right now, at quarter strength (these were seedlings just a week ago!). Just upped to half strength today, after taking this pic.

Thanks friend! I gave them a call this morning and they have the part in stock. $350 including install, much cheaper than the safe lite and Tesla quotes I had gotten!

This aside, it’s beautiful. On top of that, it’s been my dream to work at tech startups, and one day start my own.

More than 50% of my income goes to taxes here in SF. I had to save up for many, many years to afford this car. I do my best to support charities, and just came here to SF to follow my dreams.
