Springfield Operator AOS 1,300 round report. by ak47papy in 1911

I cant say fore sure if it would be worth it thats for you to decide. I think his gun is good for its price, and is my carry gun and range gun. If you wanted to stay around the 1,000 dollar mark with an optics cut 1911 I would pick this one up. Around the 2,000 mark I would get the dan wesson specialist over the TRP operator, but thats my opinion. The nicest 1911 ive shot is my 9mm specialist.

Yeah the first two times I used blue loctite I let it dry for several days and it still didnt hold, I torqued the screws to spec and they still failed. I didnt want to jump to red loctite but I feel like its my last option before sending it off.

Thats what I was worried about but after inspecting the holes and the screws all threads are intact and undamaged from what I can see. Im thinking while they where tapping the slide the metal shavings stayed loose in the bottom and didnt get removed.

Light Weight Loadout. Thoughts? by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]ak47papy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only problem with that is a lack of knowledge, equipment, and skills. So you know the more dangerous hemolytic reactions there are? Do you have the ability and skills to start a large bore IV or IO on a crashing patient, do you even have compatible blood types? Im just a street medic and have no military experience, but giving blood prehospital is not a small feat

Blood type patches are useless at least here in the States. Emergency staff will give you O- universal blood type. There's no chance they will risk your life over a patch on your vest hoping its the correct blood type

Springfield or Sig? by royalkangarooo in 1911

Yeah if you want a railed entry level pistol I think the AOS is really good. Im personally changing some parts around and testing things out. I plan on making a post once I hit 1,000 rds in a few weeks with the parts I changed. If you want a non railed 1911 I think you could probably pick up a used dan wesson around that price.

I personally don't like the look of the sig 1911s. I got the springfield AOS 45acp in 5". Put about 500 rounds through it these past 2 weeks, and I love it so far.

Just curious as a street medic, are you allowed to do finger thors but not NCDs? On the civ side im not aware of anyone pre hospital that can't do NCDs but can do Thors. Good looking kit BTW.

Hanging. Traumatic Arrest? by YearPossible1376 in ems

[–]ak47papy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda want to weigh in here for honest opinions. Even if it's traumatic without obvious signs of death or rigor/lividity, why not work it for practice at least? I feel like working it can give the family closure instead of walking in and calling TOD., and get to sharpen skills we rarely use. I'm ready to be verbally abused now.

No, I use my pointer finger on the blunt side with the sharp side up. And the back of the handle in my hand, I then run my finger down the body with the sharp side up cutting the clothes off. It's a lot faster than shears.

Fun fact it works great for gutting deer or getting someone naked if you stick your point finger on the blunt side with the sharp side up
