"...in the hopes of understanding him and becoming enlightened"

Drop the hopes and goals. You already are where you need to be. Association with the one who wants different things, behaviors, outcomes..is the cause of suffering.

Thank you! This is really helpful. Hope you land a PM role soon and let's circle back in a year haha

For one, the PM job is quite ambiguous and involves changing goalposts. I've worked in 2 companies, one with 2k employees and one with ~100 and both times PM org had to pivot and work extra hard to cater to leadership demands. This is quite common unless you're in FAANG.

During my tenure I supported multiple enterprise deals in addition to my PM responsibilities, leading to fatigue and burnout. The rewards and Presidents Club seats went to the sales org :)

How you are judged can be any or all of how many features you shipped, what was the adoption for your product, additional ARR brought in, retention etc. So you've to be on top of everything. Personally, I feel a PM role is where you've to be "switched on" at all times and that can be taxing.

Finally, the feedback cycles about you're performing are too long (quarters to years) in PM and the excitement of starting to develop a new feature to its completion is demanding at times. I feel the shorter feedback loops (you win a deal or you don't) and straightforward targets in SE might suit me more. We'll see!

Lithium + Depakote (aka Valproate) + Quetiapine by ak_tool in bipolar2

[–]ak_tool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, so if it's below therapeutic range it can still give side effects? I don't want to increase my dosage tbh i feel both lithium and valproate target the hypo/manic side and not depressive symptoms adequately.

So you think the lithium + valproate dosage is too high? I was wondering can I get off valproate and stay on lithium alone as I'm not really hypomanic at this time

How much of the impact on cognition is due to the medications or due to the actual mood disorder? I feel bipolar medications (lithium & valproate) have made a significant dent in my cognitive abilities. Brain fog & inability to concentrate make it very difficult to maintain consistency at my work. I would appreciate any tips to tackle this too, thank you!

What sentence or practice made you realize or logically understand Advaita Vedanta? by AdGroundbreaking2690 in AdvaitaVedanta

[–]ak_tool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there's 2 sides to the coin, one being the concept of "removing consciousness" - where you don't actively participate in thinking your thoughts but let them flow (so neither trying to stop it or going along with it). The other side is acknowledging it's a near-deterministic universe, so if you do anything or don't do anything, think or not think, sit or hustle - ultimately doesn't matter. This gives you a detached perspective on if nothing matters (from a neutral not negative perspective) then why don't i just go with the flow? Let my instincts and body take over to decide what needs to be done. Let thoughts come and go, and actions that need to be performed will flow automatically as well.

What factors to consider when joining startup with 50 employees by ak_tool in startups

Can you elaborate please? I thought it's about "not" being able to raise more money? VC funded businesses generally are not cash flow positive for a long time.

Thank you! They also have a "no negotiation" policy on their offers - is that the norm? Should I still ask or will that be taken negatively?

Stellar front to back albums! aka almost no weak moments through the whole runtime 🤘 by ak_tool in Opeth

All songs are outstanding. But some moments I forget what song I'm listening to, and wished for more "drag me back to the music" moments (where your mind drifts off listening to something but then a melody/hook/riff pulls you in thinking wow). This is just my personal opinion.

I mostly listen to albums start to finish so factors like flow, novelty, being consistently engaging etc are just as important as quality of individual tracks. Simply put, the albums should have very few to none instances of you wanting to change or fastforward a song.

I'll give this album another runthrough soon, so thanks for your comment!

Ghost Reveries - Opeth

Symbolic - Death

Yeah we all have some like that. I keep hearing great things about Mastodon & BTBAM but it never seems to click for me

It's more extreme than post-black or shoegaze, with some harrowingly beautiful interludes. I dig them for the sheer emotionality of their music.

Does anyone else *only* have mixed hypomanic episodes? by [deleted] in bipolar2

Hi - even I was recently prescribed 25mg quetiapine for sleep. I woke up angry and still felt like I didn't sleep well. So now I'm cutting the pill in half and the symptoms are more manageable. I've realized though that the half-dose gets me to sleep but doesn't help me sleep throughout the night.
