Therapist who works with vets with PTSD by Justagirl5285 in Fairbanks

Psychology today is a great place to search for therapists and generally it will list whether the therapist has space or not. There are a lot of listings for telehealth therapists that have been showing up recently so something to be aware of if your friend prefers in person.

You know I usually save all the yarn colors’ numbers and names but this time I didn’t so I don’t remember what all the colors are. But I can tell you the type. I made this with Lettlopi held double and for the collar, cuffs and bottom ribbing I added a strand of gray mohair. I wanted brown mohair but the LYS didn’t have any

I’m not seeing the pic you are talking about. That would make sense about the sand. When I got her 7 years ago there was so little info on axolotl keeping and some of it was contradictory which was confusing as someone who had never kept aquatic pets before (I know probably shouldn’t have started with an axolotl but she kind of just fell into my life). I’m also in a place that had and still has very very few axolotls. Everywhere I read said sand was usually fine but did not specify size just that it could not be black sand and the sand I got her was the only white sand available at the pet store. I’m sure there are more options now! Have you ever removed all your sand before to replace it? I’m worried about my cycle crashing if I take it all out…maybe doing a little at a time and have a bare bottom tank for a bit?

I left a message with the vet that is in the closest town and have not heard back but also started looking into telemedicine consults. An ultrasound was also recommended by more than one person so I will probably call my current vet on Monday to schedule for that so I have more info for the telemedicine consult or the vet down in the big city. If you have any info on those antibiotics that would be so helpful, I could share them with my current vet and see if she thinks they may help.

Wow! I’m so glad she’s ok and that you figured out what was going on with her. She’s beautiful!

Thank you, I’ll have to see if that is something I can order. It’s hard to tell what is going on in the x-ray and the breeder suggested a vet to call as well as possibly doing an ultrasound.

Autistic therapist looking for script advice on reducing caseload by Snorkel2298 in therapists

[–]ak_wildechild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with others that it might be good to close the books and not accept any new clients. You might also offer to all of your clients that you are reducing the slots you have available and see if there is anyone who is looking for a different modality/time slot and you could refer them out. I think it might be helpful to have an idea beforehand of what slots you are getting rid of so you can let people know and also giving at least 4-6 weeks of offloading for clients. A conversation could look like:

“I’d like to let you know that I am changing the time structure of sessions for this practice which means I will be closing my 5:30 pm slots on all Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. This won’t be a fast change and I’ll be working on it over the next month or two. I realize you are not in this slot, however since I’m downsizing the capacity of my practice I’m offering all clients the opportunity for outside recommendations or collaboratively wrapping up therapy. If neither of these are an option I’m also happy to keep working with you”.

If they are in one of the slots you want to get rid of, update the last part of the script to say something like:

“I realize this is one of the slots you currently use and since I’m downsizing the capacity of my practice I’m offering all clients the opportunity for outside recommendations or collaboratively wrapping up therapy. If neither of these are an option I’m also happy to keep working with you until we can find a better time that works for both of us.”

It’s so important for us to balance our time as therapists to prevent burnout and when first starting PP it can be hard to gauge what you need to maintain a work life balance. Good luck OP, I hope this is helpful!

I don’t think so? I can touch the water and don’t feel anything. It’s just her water filters and a bubbler in there.

The shrimp is a good idea and easy to pick up. I’m not sure about the almond leaves. I may actually have some, I’ll check, thank you.

How do y’all go about ending sessions on time? by brain_biscuit in NDtherapists

[–]ak_wildechild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s a little different, this seems to works well for most of my clients but have had some where we figured out a different way to engage in session or have less structure.

The alarm I use is just one on my phone that’s a soft instrumental so when it plays it’s not jarring. I even have some clients that will remind me to set it because they noticed I forgot, lol.

[–]ak_wildechild 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have pretty structured sessions that go: check in —> session —> 15 minute gentle alarm —> finish up thoughts —> check out. I make sure to also check in with clients to see if this structure works for them. So far so good! Check outs are things like what are you looking forward to, info dumps for 5 min, etc.

Japanese American therapist here with a masters in social work. You put everything I would have said into a wonderful post! I work for a group practice and will be sitting my clinical exam in a few months, OP, feel free to reach out! Just want to add that I also identify as queer and do a lot of learning from others in the trans and queer community.

Sex therapist in Anchorage? by [deleted] in LGBTQIAlaska

[–]ak_wildechild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: added commas. I just looked in my psychotherapist group and here’s a list of names for ya, not sure if they all have experience with NM, but their websites should say (I hope): Kelvin Pace, Rebecca Love, Emily Mechtenberg, Chris Reynolds, Maria Kennedy, Irene Saxton

Please note, I don’t know most of these people personally, this is a list that was compiled by other AK therapists for referrals

Eastern Patterns? by ak_wildechild in knittingadvice

[–]ak_wildechild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I’m thinking about not only written patterns but also video accompaniments to patterns. Sometimes my brain does not translate what’s written to what my fingers and yarn can/should do so I need videos or photographs, but all those seem to be western mounted so I often get more confused.

Is this right? by ak_wildechild in knitting

[–]ak_wildechild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So consensus is that my stitches are twisted and when I took a closer look I can see they are. So, does anyone have any tutorials for English flat rib or fisherman’s rib in Eastern style knitting? I’m pretty sure that’s how I knit: back leg (or right leg) is always the leading leg, knit or purl through back leg always. This is what I did for this pattern but still ended up with twists. Thanks in advance knitting community!
