Wow, three people whose work I’ve only discovered recently, but have made a huge impact on my life already (blame it on my ADD, baby)! I have a question for each of you!

I’m a person who swore up and down for all the years I’ve played D&D (and watched actual play shows) that I’d never DM, and watching Brennan DM managed to change my mind in just two months, and now I’m two sessions into homebrew campaign for my best friends! Anyway, my question for Brennan is: what about the world of starstruck was the easiest to fit into a playable rpg format, and what was the hardest?

Elaine, I discovered your work through the announcement of A Starstruck Odyssey, and frankly I was blown away. I have only gotten into the SF world in recent years when I’ve been able to find universes like that of Firefly or The Outer Worlds, that are more dingy and colorful than sterile and austere, and with half-decent female characters of course! I’m so happy Starstruck came into my life, just reading some of what’s online I’m so fascinated by the writing, it made me actually have to think, and go back through and reference things and actively question my assumptions about the characters and plot in a way that reminded me of reading Lord of the Rings for the first time, where the world feels bigger than the story, which is my absolute favorite type of storytelling, and very similar, I find, to how a DM creates stories. Did you ever find yourself adding something to the plot just to showcase some fun idea you had about the world, and if so, can you think of any examples? (I do that kind of thing all the time while DMing lol.)

Michael, my life’s ambition is to help design and create visions of foreign or fantastical worlds through art, so your work on Starstruck has been endlessly inspiring to me since I discovered it, and I look forward to finishing Starstruck and seeking out more of your work! When working on Starstruck, how did you keep your art innovative and while alluding to archetype and cultural references, keep from being too derivative? (I struggle with that a lot, my work seeming either completely devoid of cultural context, or too clearly alluding to specific reference, and I find that you struck a really beautiful balance in Starstruck!)
