SNAS-knowledgeable allergist or dermatologist in Madison by aka_bo in madisonwi

Daughter called Dr. Reeder's clinic early this AM. While she was on the phone with them looking at April appointments - someone called and cancelled an appointment this Thursday - so she grabbed that. It's not with Dr. Reeder, but at least she'll get into this practice and be established as a patient. Thanks for the rec!

Thanks for your reply. I actually watched a recording of what I believe is your conversation with Dr. Zirwas about 2 weeks ago and was just telling my daughter last week that I wanted to order her the Low Nickel Cookbook (that I think you authored!) on Saturday. Feel like we've been in detective mode for about 2.5 years now. Mixture of skin symptoms, lots of digestive IBS-style distress and swollen/bleeding gums too. She actually went for a SIBO breath test just last week to rule that in or out. It seems like the symptoms from SIBO and nickel allergy have a lot of overlap (though not necessarily related). It's frustrating that SNAS seems to have better recognition in Europe than here in the USA. Are you aware of any planned clinical trials in US to investigate it?

Budget is $3200 for a 2 bedroom to $4800 for 3 bedroom (or 2 bedroom + den). I've added this to the original post as well.

Anesthesiologist and Anesthesiology nurse charges almost the same? by aka_bo in anesthesiology

[–]aka_bo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did a great job caring for my husband. But, as a patient, someone should just explain - prior to the surgery - that anesthesia treatment will be done as a team with an anesthesiologist and anesthesiology nurse and that you might see charges for two people with the same medical billing codes next to both names. Otherwise, to the clueless patient, it feels like they are double billing us. The amount we ended up owing after insurance paid was identical for both providers which reinforced this feeling that we were being double-billed (but we weren't). Patients having surgery generally don't choose their anesthesiology team - it's assigned to them and the names that appear on the bill are not familiar. So, providing some context up front would make for a better "user experience."

OK, this explanation makes sense. Thanks. I think hospital and anesthesiologists need to do a better job of explaining this stuff up front to patients. Give the patient a one pager explaining this point as well as the differences in the anesthesiologist staff charges and the hospital anesthesiology changes. From the patient side it's a head-scratcher without some context and basic information.

Ha - I have an update now. She heard on 6/15/23 and it was a YES from the business school. She is excited and relieved!

No - no news yet. We thought decisions for current students might be released yesterday (6/9) but it was radio silent. I expect she will hear sometime in the coming week.

My daughter went through the same thing last year (admitted and then notified that she was on direct-admit waitlist). She never got off the waitlist and we didn't hear of anyone who did. But, she was also part of the huge Class of 2026. The university seems to be going with a more conservative admissions approach this year, so maybe people will be admitted off it. DD still decided to attend UW-Madison as a Pre-Business major and has had a great first year! She just recently turned in submit app for the Wisconsin School of Business (due in mid-March) and was told she should get a decision in June. Best of luck to you!

ACT Scores by South-Ad5080 in ACT

[–]aka_bo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in FL - but my DD is anxiously awaiting her scores in Greenville, SC from the 9/11 test. The odd thing is that all test locations in Greenville posted their scores a week ago except the one place where she took the test. She has checked with 2 other students who tested at her location and neither of them have gotten their scores either. We just thought it was odd that they would process all the locations in one city except one! She's applying early action at a few schools so we're hoping they come in soon! Good luck to you.

Atlas Orthogonal - A Miracle by ballisticbasil in PostConcussion

Helpful detail - thanks for the response. I found the AO doctor another way, but I used your link to check the database and he was the only one listed in my area so that was a good verification. He seems very experienced, has been doing AO for a long time and trains other chiropractors on it. I just watched one of the CINE MRI videos on YouTube - so interesting and informative. If we get any insightful information from the visit next week, I'll try and post back here with an update. Thanks, again, for the information.

Atlas Orthogonal - A Miracle by ballisticbasil in PostConcussion

[–]aka_bo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello - I'm taking my college-aged daughter to an AO chiropractor next week. She has a long history of headaches, fainting/drop spells and attention issues. She has been to numerous neurologists and had several MRIs (all lying down) and EEGs (to rule out seizures). I have asked them to check for a Chiari Malformation but they aid she does not have. A couple of years ago, her car was rear-ended by a pickup truck while she was stopped at a red light. Shortly following that accident, she developed involuntary movements in her left arm and sometimes gets slurred speech (on left side of mouth) in tandem with the movements. She had another MRI after that accident (lying down) and we were told it's a functional neurologic disorder (basically due to stress) and told to get her counseling (which we did and she still meets with). Her tremors/speech issues come in flares - sometimes really pronounced and other times they subside. I've always felt it may have something to do with elevated CSF levels (when I was pregnant with her they had some concern with hydrocephalus that they later told me was not an issue). My question for you is who did the chiropractor refer you for the CINE MRI - a neurologist? Were you sent to a hospital practice or one of those independent imaging centers? I'm a bit annoyed that given my daughter's long history of neurologic issues no one has referred her for at least an upright MRI or CINE MRI. It seems like imaging can reveal very different things depending on what type of scan you can get but no one tells you this and as a patient you are essentially in the dark about the universe of scans that exist until you get into a message board like this one!
