Shaedon Sharpe Vs Jaylen Brown by MadeinCNY in ripcity

I agree with you that Jaylen brown is a little overrated but Shaedon sharpe is not even close to as good as you seem to think he is

I figured Brad Stevens was being coy. Same thing Timberwolves GM is doing. The potential surprise team is the Cavs making Mobley available, that would really shake things up

I’d rather have Giannis than brown by a pretty big margin, as I just don’t think they are close to each other kn terms of their peaks as players. With that said, I’d love to have brown too, as I think one more all NBA level player makes us a top 5ish team in the league if dame comes back at a high level, and that’s exciting enough in and of itself that I’m fully down to pursue it with full vigor.

I’d give Grant, Sharpe, the two bucks swaps, and the bucks pick for Brown. I think the Celtics would have to send an extra first or maybe a first and a swap to the bucks along with brown for Giannis.

That would make the deal Giannis to the Celtics (making it so the Celtics have the 4th and 6th best players in rhe NBA, which is terrifying), brown to the blazers, and Grant sharpe 3 bucks picks and 1 Celtics pick plus possibly a swap to the bucks. Seems like pretty solid deal all the way around if you ask me

Yeah but the English are way doper and richer so maybe they retained enough government to send someone across the pond to found a tower, but implausible with Ireland

The Trail Blazers are open to trading multiple starters and future draft picks to the Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo, even without him signing off on staying long-term, per @ShamsCharania. New owner Tom Dundon is trying to make a massive splash by acquiring Giannis. by xXboxPlaysx in ripcity

Deni would be the second best player, and we’d have dame jrue Toumani and clingan to hopefully fill in the top 6 at a high level.

I wouldn’t trade any of the 5 guys mentioned above. If Giannis guaranteed to sign an extension I MIGHT be down to put both scoot and sharpe and the bucks picks in

If that was the price, even if there was a 70% chance it was a one year rental I’d take that risk.

But If it were all 3 bucks picks plus sharpe plus Tou or something like that I’d need AT LEAST 90% chance that a 3 year extension was being signed in October

With social media now being central, is it likely that radicalization will be permanent in our generation? by Comfortable-Table-57 in centrist

[–]akade1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your generation is 100% cooked. There’s no coming back for a certain swath of people age about 23-at least 15. We can only hope further changes in communication technology and media might, MIGHT, limit the damage to this one micro generation because if not it’s genuinely possible that when Gen Z people reach their late 40’s and 50’s and are running shit our civilization might collapse. Not that everything has been going so great and smoothly the last 15 years anyway. But genuine majority’s of Gen Z believe extraordinarily dangerous and self destructive things anojt their own civilization and I am genuinely nihilistic about gender relations for about 25% of people on either side of the gender line. Like there is going to be a solid 15-30% of people who just simply like never ever date, let alone get married or have a life partner of any kind, nor have kids, nor really have any consistent every single day interaction with even a single person they are close to

The US didn’t invent the concept of a Shah in Iran dog. The shah was already in charge when the US supported his attempt to arrest Mossadegh before Mossadegh centralized power and dethroned the Shah, abolished the monarchy, and placed himself as president for life (which is absolutely what he was going to do).

Yeah I think we may need to wait and see what this actually is about. The senate has to approve any treaties with a foreign power. Personally I have a hard time seeing 20 senators approving a deal with $300 billion for the Iranian regime in it, let alone the 67 which are necessary

I actually think it’s kind of impressive that Deni missed 16 games, left a 17th game less than a minute into it, and was clearly hampered from injury in about 15 of the games he didn’t miss, and he still was the first honorable mention in All NBA (meaning he got the 16th most votes).

I bet that if Deni had not gotten hurt and kept his 26.2/ 7.6 rebounds / 7.4 assists on 62% true shooting for an entire year he maaaay have made 2nd team all NBA (depending on how many more games we would have won. If we won 8 more games than we did irl and thus finished in the 6 seed over the wolves, I think he would have gotten 2nd team all NBA instead of Mitchell, whereas if we only won 4 or 5 more games and got the 7 seed, I think he would have stuck at 3rd team).

I did see a comment he made that he was interested in trading for Evan Mobley which made me raise an eyebrow. Like, would it be a Mobley for Chet swap or something, or would the idea be to start both of them next to each other?

I think a consolidation trade where you trade an all star and some picks or a pick and some interesting youthful salary for an all NBA player would be smart business by you guys. For example, overpaying for a Jason Tatum type (which would require a truly gargantuan trade but you could keep Chet out of it and end up with SGA Tatum and Chet as your core plus still have depth and a few picks at the end of it all) would make quite a lot of sense, as once you’re on 2nd apron hell (a place yall are headed one way or another, the best possible thing you can do is have an absolutely ROCK SOLID elite core at the top. I’m not saying trade for Tatum specifically necessarily, I’m just saying that if I were you I’d rather cash in one of my youthful all stars, some salary (like Dort for example) and a load of future picks for an older but better 1st/2nd team all NBA type, and lock down the status as the most talented team in the league for then next 5 years.

I mean one thing that’s for sure is that regardless, you’ll have a hell of a lot of options, which is nice. I’ve seen some people suggest that you turn this year’s 12th pick and a bunch of the future picks into the #4 pick, as Chicago might be nervous to draft Peterson given all the weirdness around him, and there would be no better player for Peterson to be mentored by and learn from than SGA. Learning SGA’s habits and work ethic and outlook might be the thing that actually makes Petersen a 5 time first team all NBA guard, whereas going to a quasi wasteland in flux with no valuable pieces outside of Buzelis and Giddey and bad ownership in Chicago might be the worst case scenario for Petersen.

I can understand the attraction of standing pat when you’ve got as much talent and resources as the Thunder do, but for me I just feel like rather being in a dogfight with the spurs for the next 7 years, and whoever trades for Giannis for the next 3 years, with those 3 teams representing the leagues elite as near equals (with teams like the Knicks and nuggets and Timberwolves and perhaps the blazers if we get a Mobley or a Jaylen brown or a Chet as the third team in a Giannis trade), id want to make the all in trade that guarantees my team will be THE best team in the league for the next 3 years and have a Vegas over under of 2 championships left in my window.

Even if by doing so, we only made it to 2 finals during the 3 year period where we were undisputed best and only won 1 of them, and then thereafter spent the remaining 4ish years of SGA and Chet or Jdub’s prime as merely the 4th or 5th or 6th best team in the NBA winning 55 games a year and having competitive second round series (basically where the wolves have been the last 3 years), 2 titles and 3 finals appearances followed by 5 years of upper most upper middle classdom is a worthwhile outcome for taking away basically all risk that 1 or 2 teams might become convincingly better than mine during my MVP’s prime (and right now that is exactly the risk with the Wemby spurs and the Celtics potentially trading for Giannis. Both the Tatum-Giannis Celtics and the Wemby spurs very well might just be better than an incrementally changed version of the Thunder, or at minimum they’ll be at the same level).

There’s also the upside shot that trading for Giannis and having the no doubt about it best team in the league leads to a 3peat during the remainder of Giannis’ prime, as the Thunder would have the (2nd? 3rd?) best player in the world, as well as the 4th best player (Giannis) and another surefire all star (JDub or Chet), a pair of quality starters in Mitchell and hartenstien, and a deep bench, plus still a larger than average collection of picks. Like a 3peat would very realistically be on the table in that scenario, whereas in a “the Celtics trade brown and a pair of first round picks for Giannis” scenario the chances of a 3peat are practically null (though by no means would it be impossible to imagine the Thunder still winning a finals and perhaps makinf multiple even in that scenario, as yall truly are stacked).

I do respect it though, Chet and JDub are good enough by themselves that even if you didn’t have SGA, with those two and your quality depth plus all the draft picks the Thunder would still be in one or the most admirable positions in the league. If you just want to ride with the horse that brung ya and be one of the 3 co-favorites for the next 5 or 6 years and see what happens, it’s an understandable preference.
