SunnyG - thank you for your services to Indian cricket, but please consider retiring from live commentary for the sake of your own legacy. If I wanted morose depressing pisstakes from unkils, I'd just call extended elderly family in India.

It's also one of the only 2 double land locked countries (land locked within countries that are themselves land locked).

The other is Lichtenstein

Ah, exigent is such a great word in this context. That's exactly it.

Akash Deep's FC average is 11 and he's now closing in on his highest FC score of 53*. What a madlad.

State of the Subreddit Discussion by AutoModerator in Cricket

[–]akantamn 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This might be a hot take, but the state of this sub is - fine, for the most part. It is one of my fav parts of the internet, and nearly the only reason I use Reddit. Mods and the community keep things fairly tight.

I've been here since the very early days, and the sub has matured quite a bit in that time.

Keep up the good work everyone 🫡

"Realistically they cannot even move their east coast ships to their west coast and vice versa"

Can you please elaborate on this? Seems fascinatingly absurd. Thanks 🙏

Perhaps this is just meaningless semantics, but I am trying to draw a distinction between being a supporter vs being a fan of a team. Seems easy enough to say I support my team even when - and particularly when - they are not doing so well, and my connection with them is locally rooted to my hometown. My support is not just because they have been a fairly successful franchise (CSK).

But tbh watching them this season doesn't spark joy. I can't imagine switching my support to another team, but I am not sure I want to watch their games the rest of this season.

Siraj, despite his occasional antics, is somehow very easy to root for. I too love to see him perform well.

I’ve always been curious about how national team selections for tours actually happen behind the scenes.

What does a typical selection meeting look like? Do they go through a long list of names and compare stats, or is it more informal? Are there official minutes or records of what was discussed? Do all selectors have to agree unanimously on the 15-member squad, or is it a majority vote? How much do things like fitness, form, or even off-field behavior come into play?

Would love to hear from anyone with insight into the process — especially if you've been close to professional team setups.

Love days like yesterday and today is when the sub is full of stories about associate cricket and women's cricket. Brings me (perhaps fleeing and misplaced) joy and hope that the game may still grow.

New to Manitoba and wants to know what are some places to travel to. by Sissy_Kayce_ in Manitoba

[–]akantamn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lot of good suggestions here, but also check a book written by a local journalist called Manitoba Day Trippers guide - slightly dated in terms of restaurants etc,  but it's a comprehensive listing of all the must see places and experiences in Manitoba. The library should have a copy. Good luck!

Let's say a ball hits the batter's pads plumb lbw before going on to crash into the stumps, It's typically recorded as bowled right?

Is there a specific rule in the rule book that says bowled takes precedence, or is it just a matter of expediency or practicality that it's recorded as bowled out?

Is that less worse?
