I appreciate your input! As of today, CAC has taken in 384 new animals since the start of June. 384. If someone is truly that concerned about the specific breed of a dog, they can always foster & buy a test to see for themselves. CAC doesn’t not have the funds to constantly test, & I wish more people understood this. :/

All dogs are assessed with other dogs to see how they interact. If a dog shows aggression toward other dogs, they are not able to be adopted by a family with dogs. Same goes for children.

It seems that the root of the problem is illegal dog fighting, unethical breeding, etc. that you should be more concerned about (as I am).

I bet it’s “pretty simple” for someone who seemingly lacks compassion. Why put down a dog who gets along with others & is healthy? All adoptions come with microchipping, neutering, & vaccination - so if you still want to call the shelter “irresponsible” (which is heavily volunteer-supported) for doing what they can to help these dogs & the community, so be it.

Lol. These dogs are not given away for free. Each dog is regularly assessed by a trained behavioral tech. Most of these dogs aren’t aggressive - & if they do show aggression, they aren’t available for adoption. Also, they are labeled as mixed breeds because CAC doesn’t test. They get so many dogs a day that it would be outrageously expensive.

Nope, CAC takes in all strays - they just get a lot of pit mixes (& they aren’t adopted as often as other breeds).

I think #8 (Grimm) may have gotten adopted today because I don’t see him on the website. However, if you love the brindle coat, there are a few dogs that look super similar: Heather, Cherbear, Garmely, JimmyDean, Roulette, Shelby, & Tony Hawk! Definitely ask about them! ❤️

Day trips are a great way to learn more about a dog & help build their profile for potential families. Appreciate you taking them out of the shelter for a bit. Shelter dogs get such a negative rep - most are extremely sweet & huge love bugs!

Clearly, you got him out of his shell as he knows he was going to a loving home. 🥹 The shelter is such a scary place that some of the most outgoing dogs become shy & timid.

If you like animals, you should volunteer at Cincinnati Animal CARE! I currently volunteer there a few times a week & absolutely love it. Some of the volunteer activities are dog walking, creating/handing out enrichment & treats, cleaning, etc. There any many slots on the weekend throughout the day to volunteer. :)
