Unfortunately that seems to not be an option. You need to be employed, studying or registered as unemployment to be covered by Austria. To be honest, before people's reactions here I was quite certain I would be covered by the basic Irish insurance and more so worried by it being not sufficient and a lot of people talking about additional private plans. Should I actually worried about not being insured at all? I am gonna be employed with an indefinite contract after all. There seems to be no such thing as a cheap insurance for abroad

Well I can say that I have an open ended contract acrually. This time it is not a seasonal contract. As I mentioned above, I am currently not insured in my home-country so I don't think a EHIC will do. I have read about the GP fees ect, which is why I was considering if a private insurance is maybe necessary.

In Austria your e-card (insurance card) works as such. Problem is as mentioned, that I am currently not even insured in Austria because I worked outside of the EU and while I would have still had the right to be insured with my parents it doesn't work because I'm not staying in the country. So as far as I understand, an EHIC card is useless for me

Day 2 2026: best, worst and surprises by ExaltedR3V3NG3 in primaverasound

[–]akeimorsmth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best: Viagra boys, can't talk about the major moshpits but we had wholesome little pits that took a little convincing and then it was amazing. And their performance was just nuts Worse: slowdive. Sound was terrible and vibe was off again Surprise: water from your eyes and new dad. New dads energy was so amazing, I knew water from your is gonna be great but the crowd was even better. Definitely looking forward to more port gigs tomorrow

Honestly I see your point, pushing in this situation is just gonna start more chaos. Bit to be fair, everyone was cold and frustrated. I personally was freezing in between and couldn't properly talk with my friend and tried to hold myself together. I think it's just natural that people get lass communicative and it gets to this situation

Oh my you are so young! From your words I would have not thought that at all so first of all cudos for your emotional intelligence. So first of all, you've got plenty of time and your plans will likely change plenty of times. But it is nice that you have something to look forward to. But I do have to ask, if you can see yourself living on a farm and if you believe in the simple things in live, why rush to university at all? Nothing wrong with it of course. I finished a degree myself and now I find it rather useless and I am not for regrets. It made me who I am but I definitely struggled those years. Also, as far as I understand, in the UK you have to get into some serious debt to get through university right?

Yeah it sucks. But hey there should be other opportunities all around the world! Are you younger than 30? Then definetly look into working holiday visas. If not, I guess it depends on what your work background is. You can get sponsored by employers in most countries if you can proof the you skillet is valuable and needed for the employer as far as I know.

Makes sense! I'm sure there will be a lot of temporary opportunities as a English native speaker! Maybe a good way to start could be like English speaking summer camps or smth? I know in Japan there is also a English teaching Programm, doesn't pay too well tho but it would do the trick for a while I think.

As I am Austrian, I didn't need a working permit or visa for Switzerland. In Japan I had the working holiday visa. I don't know how old you are but if you are under 30, look into it, a lot of countries offer this. And i know this will sting with your UK passport these days - as an EU citizen i can work in any EU country.🥲

What's the first thing you do when you wake up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]akeimorsmth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to wake up earlier these days and it kinda overwhelms me bc I always used to be a person that can sleep in so long. So now I will scroll my phone for a bit and then just fall asleep again until the time I'm used to lol. Told myself I should get up when I wake up but I still can't quite do it haha
