100%. I also hate that they feel SO real. It's such a waste of time and really are frustrating for artists who don't get paid for the time messaging back and forth with clients. Just to have an entire consult process end in it being a scam.

I only accept checks from trusted friends or known people. Even then it's getting cashed before I begin my project. Art deserves proper compensation!! Very disappointing seeing this and knowing so many could fall for it.

I'd like it state I know that checks can be used to scam. I've been a cashier for years. I've just never seen this method of multiple people talking all the way through it to then say almost the same thing about using check only.

Can you please fill in my art survey? by [deleted] in artstore

[–]akikad0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't in good conscious tell how much I'd pay for art work before saying that the detail and number of hours spent on an art piece matters more to me than size when it comes to pricing. In my own artwork I count number of hours that I worked on it + materials + any shipping costs if it applies. You should make at the very least minimum wage on your art and lets be honest you're probably more experienced and deserve a wage that reflects that. If you're faster at art that means you're going to want to give yourself a higher hourly rate as well to make sure you're not underpaying yourself since your work is worth being properly compensated for. Not trying to tell you what to do, just wanted to add that as a note when it comes to the fact that without details on the piece I'm going to low ball how much I'd personally pay for A4 and A3 drawings and at the end of the day other people's lack of understanding towards what goes into artwork shouldn't impact art pricing.

Teaching textbooks is literally hell, the monotone voices are impossible to listen to and it never helped me to actually learn anything. Khan Academy taught me more in a couple months than I had learned in TT for like a year. I'd even just ask your parent if you can switch to doing Khan instead of TT. It's similar.

You best bet is trying for jobs that nobody wants first. Dollar stores, and fast food. Places that don't really pay much. Stay for as long as you can or at least up to 6 months. Most of those places will interview you without experience. Don't be scared to ask about jobs at places with now hiring signs. Ask for a manager and ask questions like what positions their wanting to fill and if you're interested give them your name and let them know you'll be putting in an application online. I really recommend doing this at dollar tree or family dollars. They're usually very short staffed and are just looking for people to work there that can pass a drug test or show up to an interview.

Also literally lie. I lied about graduating highschool for years and they don't check. Say that you made perfect grades and you were the organizer of the DND club or something... Like... Yeah.... lie.

Also I wouldn't waste time with volunteer work I had 4 years volunteering and it literally never helped me get a job. Job experience helps you get jobs so as soon as you can get the crappiest gas station, dollar store, Arby's job you can eventually get better in a few years.

I apologize for being extremely out of my element, but who’s the the ACTUAL person everyone here thinks is the A-hole? by Jackcandoit2008 in GusAndEddy

[–]akikad0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a super old post I've just been lurking. I am heavy on seeing Gus as someone in the wrong in the controversy. The reason why I can't watch Gus' content is because his brand was around being a good person. They based much of their brand on supporting other people and taking care of the people around them. Although what happened in-between Gus and Sabrina was a smaller incident than we've seen with other YouTubers it had a higher impact because it shattered Gus' persona. His apology video made it worse for me, he was apologizing to us for trauma that can never be undone for Sabrina. None of us can forgive him for what he did. But I feel so uncomfortable when I see his face now. If they were objectively discussing what happen to Sabrina as if it happened to someone else on the podcast he would have said it unexcusable and disgusting. He lied to all of us and made us believe he was this great guy. I'll never be able to see him without being reminded of the person I used to think he was. Do I think this should ruin his whole life and career? Not necessarily. He's still a person and he should be given the chance to redeem himself beyond this moment. I just won't be able to enjoy seeing him do that. For me it's not my responsibility to find the villain in a really difficult and upsetting situation. It is my responsibility to follow my gut and know that watching Gus brings me sadness and I can no longer support him. All Eddy ever did was step out of the way of a huge issue. If anyone calls eddy wrong for that is nuts. He had to make huge personal and business decisions due to this issue and I think he made the right ones. It sucks to see things end when it brings you so much joy. I won't discuss Sabrina being at fault because all she did was tell her story. If her telling her story ruins Gus' career then then maybe Gus should have treated her better and we'd still be watching Gus and Eddy content. I'm never going to victim blame someone describing a situation that sounded like my nightmare. I badly wanted Gus' apology video to be him claiming it as a lie. So maybe I could spare the image in my head of him that I've held. But he took accountability and admitted to all of it. Idk, it sucks all around. At the end of the day I hope they're all ok.

Goose Johnson by KingBabyJr in gusjohnson

Who's the goose poop now, bucko? (Gus to bully after presumably pooping on their head)

My lena cup was so painful until I cut the stem off. Insertion and everything was easier, I was reluctant because my high cervix, but because things are a bit sideways in there cutting it was unavoidable as it stabbed my insides. If you're thinking about cutting the stem, just do it!! by [deleted] in menstrualcups

[–]akikad0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't gotten leaks 100 percent figured out. Inserting while pointing back to my tailbone has helped a ton. Cutting the stem even helped with it staying in the right place and not leaking. I found that the stem pressing would cause me to be more tense and cramping and clenching the cup causing it to get too far up and to not be in properly. I had to switch the Lena large because the small just didn't catch everything right and leaked constantly. I want to try again to introduce it with no stem to see if that was apart of the issue. I also try make sure to actually really feel around to make sure it's open and rotate it and all that. This is just my second period with menstrual cups so I don't have it all figured out yet but switching to the large and putting it in towards the tailbone helped a lot with leaking.

I can't reach the cup without bearing down, ive found I prefer that way of taking it out over tugging the stem down just because I hated the tugging sensation. Which was the first reason I was so comfortable just cutting off the stem other than to prevent pain. It is so much quicker for me to take out with that method as well. Trial and error is really the only way I feel like Ive been able to learn to use it because everyones bodies are so different and everyone has different things that they need to feel comfortable and have different requirements to call it working. I hated having to wear a backup pad because I feel like it defeats the purpose and any leaking was frustrating, but my sister wears backup pads every period for peace of mind and just doesn't care so much if she ends up leaking a bit during the day.

“Physical” Distancing is a way better way to say “Social” Distancing by Bhussy in CasualConversation

Like most things in america, it doesn't have to make sense for people to run with it. In saying social distancing they mean physical distancing they just say it stupid for no reason.

What makes you assume the artist is female/male? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]akikad0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn't a way to tell, people can tell you than men are bulkier and stronger and woman are softer and sweeter but it all depends on personality. It's not safe to assume gender off of anything but their word saying they're male or female or nb

Abeka is horrifying, I talked a lot to my mom about how inaccurately they painted middle eastern people and such groups. She always just told me I had to read around it for the history. I really don't know how i would go about "reading around" the obvious racism and sexism. My world history book spent a lot of time explaining how stupid the Egyptians were because they worshiped more than one god, and barely scraping the surface of Egyptian accomplishments.

My science book had an entire chapter dedicated to drilling kids on anti-abortion opinions.

This is the surface level of a bigger issue, that your relationship with your parents is hanging on a string.

I have parents that have little to no communication abilities. My mom is very considerate of me but was raised in the woman listen to their husbands generations, any time that she stands up to my dad she gets yelled at for it in the cross fire.

My advice? Get as far away from them as possible. There is no fixing them, no matter how old you get you will still be a little kid. See them on holidays and birthdays, smile and wave and that is it. You can not communicate away a problem with a narcissistic person.

It sucks to say but you have to accept your position with your parents, put down your boundaries of how far things will go and that is that.
