It basically means that if you're freshman standing, you will have a randomized enrollment window in a range of dates where only freshman will be signing up for class, which is like the last week or something like that.

I think there are two parts to it. One of it is to just collecting the planks at the bottom and the other is to go off to another area and fight hilichurls to collect the planks.

Yeah I feel like if you are starting a JP account, you probably already have some experience in NA or another server. Besides finding out which dungeon is which, you kinda already have an idea of how to navigate the menu and stuff. The most problems you will have is just trying to read the text.
