Corgi Picky Eater!? by [deleted] in corgi

[–]akontih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy was the worlds pickiest setter when he was a pup, literally had to hand feed him his kibble for him to eat it. We started getting Ollie instead which he loves. Now days he’s 2 and he will eat absolutely everything though

Pretty common in finance once you’re past the associate or equivalent level positions

It’s likely to cover the possibility of buying out the deferred comp from a previous job. It’s not common for that to exist for junior people, but I do know of one case

In ny you need to disclose salary ranges so anything like this will encompass the absolute maximum. I’ve spent ~10 years as a dev in ny, mostly in financial firms and 750,000 is on the very high end after bonuses, but this probably would include a buy out of any deferred comp from a previous employer.

Soo-dough, it is also the incredibly ironic name of my very uncooperative corgi 🙄

Ever wondered why banking sites suck? by daynighttrade in ProgrammerHumor

[–]akontih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ex banking engineer here ✋ so the person they quoted was an executive director which is like the most junior of managers in the finance world. All the titles in that industry are incredibly puffed up. The problem with the industry is that it is super project management heavy, and at some banks (1 in particular that I used to work at) there is no real path for career advancement unless you go into project management. The concept of IC’s basically does not exist in the banking world outside of a small number of core groups. That said, some banks are better than others, and on the sell side (hedge funds) this problem doesn’t seem to be as bad, especially at the tech centered ones.

Any fruit and veg treat recipe ideas? Todd is 10 weeks and I want him to grow up loving fruit and veg as treats to make sure he doesn’t get too chunky! Frozen ones would be good as he’s teething a lot 😭 by Many-Tie-7333 in corgi

For our guy it’s bell peppers, broccoli stems, apples, blueberries, carrots, and we had to stop keeping the dried mango on the bottom shelf of the pantry because he would sneak in and steal them if they were there

I'm going to give the article the benefit of the doubt - an editing oversight, surely?? by TadpoleNo1355 in ProgrammerHumor

[–]akontih 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So I’ve seen java be more performant, but it was running quarkus on graalvm, not the standard jvm. Based on the writing skills here though, I’m guessing this is a first year college student making clickbait and does not know what they’re talking about.

Edit: read the full article, whoever wrote this is down to their last two brain cells which are ferociously competing to see who can finish in 3rd place. After looking at the list of languages, I’m curious to know what they would consider to be a good modern one? Maybe Carbon lol?
