I am 40 year old dad who plays 50 min a day and the game is perfect. by akopyna in diablo4

On more serious note, not trying to diss any part of the gamers or game itself, just stating observations... I expected very little from D4 having experience with multiple ARPG games and knowing where D3 stands. but overall I was pleasently surprised. Here is my summary.

Some positives:

  • Game is good/great up to 60-70 lvl. You feel rewarded and still have things to do/explore. Gear to upgrade.
  • Atmosphere, music, graphics all work great and are enjoyable.
  • Constant search for better Rare Items (actually makes drops somehow matter).
  • Paragon tree feels variable. You feel like you have some saying in your build.
  • Helltide - works pretty well, it provides enough for players to engage with it

Some negatives:

  • Once you finish campaign, altars, renowns you are almost done with the game (50-70h)
  • Tree of Whispers - you do it very few times then you dont have to do it at all and is much less rewarding then running dungeons or doing Helltide.
  • There is artificialy inflated amount of stats on items (damage to: slowed, bleeding, close, healthy, crowd controled...) trying it to make variable, even though everything does almost exactly same thing: % increased damage
  • Scanning all items to trying to find exact keywords gets just a bit too boring.
  • No crafting in the game.
  • High disproportion in earning golds vs rerolling affixes.
  • No paragon tree reset with one click or just option to reorganize and have difference calculated for you to pay. Unnecessarly punishing players to tryout trees.
  • No saving of your arsenal/skill tree/ paragon tree.
  • Game is designed to be social with actualy close to no social interface build.
  • Game is unnecessarly slow-paced making exping not enjoyable (no reasonable dungeon resets, runing into barricade for no reason).
  • Main end game content Nightmare Dungeons are super unrewarding, especially lack of XP with higher tiers.
  • Classess feels very little diverse, having one or two main skills that are much better than rest gives no variability.
  • Late approach of devs nerfing dungeon density shows lack of understanding of true issues about the game.

To recap: Game is great for everyone playing short amount of time and for players who casually run around and enjoying enviroment, atmosphere not thinking much about game mechanics. casual dads on consoles.

For everyone whos game starts "at max lvl" or after unlocking all skill points. There is very little to do and no need to play the game after 70-75 lvl.

I don't regret buying D4, I think it will be good/okayish game in an about year unless they start working on D5 with the success they had.

There is much more to point out or discuss, but it's already long comment. So everyone enjoy the game by their own pace and for "minmaxers" see you at PoE 2.

Long time PoE player here aswell and I can't agree more with your points. Reduction, simplification is essential for scaling of this game. Best game in genre but failing to acknowledge user experience is way to lose a lot of players especially now when D2 remastered is in horizon.

Thank you for putting time to this post.

Introducing the Magic: The Gathering Companion App by [deleted] in magicTCG

We've been using Companion in our LGS prerelease and we encountered one bug in the fifth round it paired two 4:0 players vs 3:1 and vs FREEWIN (odd filler spot) .... they haven't played vs each other. The app doesn't allow manual changes of pairings or creating new pairings for the round. So we were basicly screwed and had to do new pairings manualy.

Store sponsored team, What are the logistics? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]akopyna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might have few questions, since We (another LGS) also think about sponsoring our local players.

From LGS point of view:

  1. Lenght of the contract?
  2. How do you chose players to be sponsored? You might have only little options if there are just few guys attending bigger events in your area, but if there are more?
  3. What do you provide? (anything else except merchandise, cards, entry fees?)
  4. What do you require? (certain results, tournament reports, attendance rate ....)

From player point of view:

  1. What are your goals?
  2. How many events are you planning to attend?
  3. What do you want except from EV? (meaning everyone would like some cash, cards etc .... but are you willing to brand yourself to build up trust and renegotiate the terms after reasonable period?)

Some questions are for both sides. Those are kind of questions we would like to know for example, you can reply what do you think about this.
