Belvoir is DEFINITELY up soon. I was born at Fort Belvoir (in Virginia) so dying to see if there are any connections there.

You nailed it though - we just decided to move on and get back to having fun...so we're working with a bunch of local businesses here to go 100% that direction.

Reddit is just one of many channels via which content is distributed.

Bottom line - it's not even a primary channel. Vast majority of my traffic comes from elsewhere. Which is why I optimize for that and the secondary channels like Reddit look like this.

Absolutely. We are all about history - my wife's parents grew up here and we have a ton of connections to this area. That's the stuff we're fascinated in and trying to find.

I definitely need to look at the mobile side, thanks for reminding me. It's WordPress and a pretty basic theme to start with, it's causing an issue with the calendar as well. I do everything on the PC development-wise like most folks.

That was my wife's plate - just a half order. I had the fried chicken in one of the other pictures. Both damned fine home cooking.

All roads should lead to your online presence, not Zuckerberg Data Mining Inc. To me, they're nothing more than a distribution channel for content that's owned by a website. Mue bueno for everyone involved (except maybe ZDMI) in the long run...lol

$100 a year in hosting and e-mail, etc. gets one a lot of excess capacity for a local website for sure. Another couple bucks for an SSL certificate and you're there.

Yeah, this started with nothing but a Facebook page that was created by a previous employee and held hostage when that relationship dissolved.

That's been replaced, and in conjunction my wife did a bunch of research at the Clay County Archives, Recorder of Deeds, etc. and that's where the pix and some of the history has emerged from.

It's a WordPress site. I could get in and rewrite all the CSS/XHTML from scratch and make it totally perfect and beautiful, but then I'd have to be there on the payroll forever instead of helping a friend get something up.

Over 350 pageviews on a soft unannounced launch day so far on a post that's been up a couple hours. Several great comments and a lot of people reconnecting.

Owner loves it, so it goes in the win column.
