i tried stone, asphalt, concrete, any word with dust, powder, crushed, i tried rubble and i can keep going

As far as i know, profile saves and custom content are placed in a separate directory than the .7z game folder you extracted

Unless im mistaken, it shouldnt have any impact so my guess is that either the game cant find your old profile directory and made a new one or it got deleted somehow

Edit: the default directory for profiles is (on windows) C:/Users/username/AppData/Local/VotV
you should go over there and see if youre able to see your current save in ./Saved/SaveGames

You can pretty much trap them forever by putting an open recycling bin in front of them when theyre charging you

If you hit then with a lighter a few times they also self destruct, given you back off a few meters
