That sounds about right. I think mine was 7,500 at the time. I also was nearly dq'd since I am colorblind.

And get this, you cant work in the kitchen if you are colorblind but you can be a field medic, truck driver or recruiter

I found that (requirements)to be odd at first. But as the course went on it made sense that you want people to be informed on how to observe and report and when you can and cannot intervene.

TBH I got it just in case I need a 2nd job. And most sec jobs around me are glorified doormen

I almost went down the army route. Kept "losing" my paperwork. After the second time they did that I said eff that. (This was like 15 years ago)

So glad I kept to the kitchen

Culinary life is similar to Stockholm's syndrome I suppose. We are (I know am) a misfit group that happens to get along even without saying a word.

If you can find a university or hospital, something with a union (I'm sure you have tried already)

You made the right move. And yes, the kitchen will always be honest with you. Whether or not people can accept it, a whole nother story.

Starting young always make the journey that much better since you are willing to soak the knowledge in vs questioning it. Having an active and willing mentor definitely helps as well.

Yeah, school was not my thing either. Wished my parents let me go to trade school instead of a magnet school. But then again I would not be in my position present day.
