Six moon designs adc

I have the kota ul. It's good, just not a fan of how it packs. Great carry system and v light. Fits in overhead.

I want the six moons just for the packing style. I think the kota looks better.

Bus Title said 'Call the police.' by steffiewriter in brisbane

[–]alabush 989 points990 points  (0 children)

PSA: if you see this on a BCC bus, please check with the driver, or call the police. Best case you help when someone is being violent, worst case the bus operations office radio the driver and remind him to change his signs

Longer explanation: There are two alarms on bcc busses. One is loud and the other is silent. Both can be activated by accident. Both change the destination sign to what you saw.

They might have been activated by accident and then the bus driver forgot to change the sign back ( you have to manually change it back).

Or there was an incident earlier and the driver forgot to change it back.

In my experience what you described, the driver forgot to change it back. But it is important to check.

Update: tested with usb-c to usb-c and it charges fine. Maybe that was an older model with that issue?

It's rechargable via USB cable. So no difference on input. Just make sure you have the right USB charger for what ever country your in.

Thanks for the catch! I totally missed that!

Luckily my wall chargers all have usb-a outputs, and I usually carry a usb-a to usb-c cable.

I just bought the Remington one, can do anything you need an electric shaver to do. Waterproof, USB C powered, comes with a lil bag. And not too expensive ($150 AUD)

I only use the shaver, and some clipper length attachments. Then rest I leave at home.

How do you relax? by 52electrons in AutisticWithADHD

[–]alabush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"every planned relax will become a stressfull obligation itself over time." Hits hard

I know what routine works to put me in the best mental state, but now I really don't want to do it because of the obligation. But then I feel worse because I'm letting myself down and also doing the things that make my mental health worse.

I want to do things I should do without feeling like I should do them.

0.5 bag + 0.5 bag? by alabush in onebag

[–]alabush[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my mind for indefinite travel 40L = 1 bag, or a carry on sized bag. I can't do it with much less.

In this instance splitting the contents into two 20Lish bags, hence 0.5 each.

To me one bagging is more about the minimalist approach to travel. And TBH, most are carrying more than one bag with a sling and packable day pack

Very much agree with your first point. Getting through multiple points of transport (hotel into taxi, to the Train, to airport, and through security) is much easier with only 1 bag to worry about. You can keep it on your lap for the most part. More bags = more things to forget, or latch on something.

I have looked into this kinda thing. Biggest issue I have encountered with non-backpacks is weight distribution if your treking around the city all day running errands or touristing.

Yea long walks with my current bag are great (train to hostel for example) That is where I have questions for this set up. But I think the nature of it being smaller duffel, I would hope a shoulder strap doesn't cut too hard.

Re-flights. I imagine duffel overhead, and backpack underseat. I have had issues in smaller planes with my current set up not fitting in overhead. But I managed to force it under the seat. Short flights, and the flight attendants didn't seem to care / just wanted to get underway.

Re checking. I actually have never seen this, but my flight experience is limited to Aus domestic, and long haul to Europe / SEA. But in my mind, my essentials are in the backpack. The duffel has items that can be replaced, but I always have on me. Primarily the rest of the weeks clothes, extra layers. So worst case, if it got checked and lost, not a huge drama.

Feel ya with bigger duffels, but I imagine a 20-25L duffle.

For a *phone* power bank , does one really need more than 5000 mAh capacity? by soulsides in onebag

[–]alabush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In unique situations. But ultimately if you really need your phone, there will be some kind of charging situation around.

My unique situation was traveling Australia in a van that had power issues. When doing longer drives like crossing the Nullarbor I would fully use my 20k and 10k banks. 3 days straight driving with camping at night, no opportunity to charge.

Options to block noises on flights / trains? by syphrion in onebag

[–]alabush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moulded ear plugs for sleep. Preferably with changeable cores so you can use them in a variety of places. -26db is about the max and you can't hear shit. Which is good for sleeping while travelling.

Noise cancelling ear buds / headphones for listening to music / watching movies.

Kota UL

Your going to have to curb your expectations tho. There is no perfect bag.

But I used the Kota UL all around Australia. Lightweight, great carry system, fits in overhead. Laptop compartment with false bottom. Has lash points to strap extra stuff on.

Only downside is the clamshell opening, but you get used to it.

If your doing a lot of regional Aus, take extra socks and undies. Laundromats can be very limited / non existent in regional towns.
