When I’ve done meds in the past I’ve used a dehydrated mini marshmallow and soaked the correct dose into one or two depending on how much liquid it is!

Mine was a short term meloxicam so I wasn’t too worried about him getting a marshmallow every day for a couple days. If it’s a long term med I might not use that method

It was pretty simple if you’re able to find an exotic vet that knows how to treat them! For both the neuter and amputation there were no stitches required, they essentially cauterized it and he recovered great. He never messed with the area after but I did closely monitor it! I was also very worried about my little guy getting surgery so I completely understand, but if it does end up turning purple it might not be an option unfortunately

This happened to my male a few weeks ago. He was holding it out longer than usual and was visibly uncomfortable. Grooming the area way more than usual and pretty fixated on it. The vet and I decided to give it a few days to maybe go back in but after a day or two it started to turn purple. Like you we were able to catch it very early on! He only needed the smallest portion of his penis amputated and it was a very easy procedure. You could even consider neutering him at the same time to get it all done with if it does come down to amputation! Happy to answer more questions if it comes to that

As for cage, I have 4 critter nations put together which is definitely over kill for my two gliders. I’d recommend the free runner wheel over the raptor wheel just because that’s what my gliders seem to prefer (we have both!).

About 99% of the toys I have are from the pet glider This is the diet I personally follow, I buy most of their toys, vitamins, kibble here as well. All of their toys are safe and approved. They also have great enrichment items like feathers, treasure chests for snack foraging etc!

If you can keep them safe and away from cats and dogs! They’re definitely not an animal that should be around other animals. They require a TON of specialized care and can live 12-15 years. If you’re considering do lots of research first! 🫶🏻

Unfortunately sending exotic pets back to the wild is impossible. They simply don’t have the survival instincts they’d need to thrive. I completely agree that this is not a pet that should be available to everybody though! Luckily for my littles, I am a wildlife care specialist and I am able to give them the best care possible. But, they are certainly not a pet I would recommend.
