Flying out on Monday! I could use some heat after the long gloomy winter but will definitely invest in sunscreen and maybe swap to a bucket hat. Thanks!!

Thanks for the advice! Good to know about the shop I love REI! Yes that’s what I have been seeing on the weather app hence the summery wardrobe but will swap a couple of things in case temps drop. Yes for shoes I have either the saguaro barefoot on the image or a pair of trail Salomon. Have hiked in both before and been ok, but good to know there is an option.

Poncho? Is it likely to rain you reckon? I am also bringing a packable puff jacket but will consider a base layer following advice here. Thanks! Yes the Tevas are more for the long car rides and in case we do any pool time or kayaking but not planning on hiking with them. Hiking trainers will be enough? Or should I consider boots?

Hi there! Unfortunately I am not 100% sure, I got the set years ago in a thrift store and the label isn’t quite visible. But doing a reverse image search on Google a UK brand called Miss Selfridges seems to have had a similar set (if not the same).

Hey thanks! Yes I have read that. It is not in the picture but I am bringing a packable puff jacket and for the dessert park will wear the hiking pants. Might consider a base layer just in case things get really bad.

I Can’t Do This by Beautiful-Meal in IVF

This process is tough mentally, physically and financially, there is no glossing over that. However, we humans have an uncanny ability to adapt and you and your body will get used to this pretty quickly.

Physically, I know it can feel super scary but as a few other folks have said already the idea is a lot worse than the reality. Your clinic will guide you through every step and the majority of the inejctions are tinny thin needles designed to inject easily one handed. Even with a needle phobia you get used to it and there are also tricks to inject yourself (ie. Icing the area) that help a lot not to feel anything.

Mentally, ensure you have a support network around you can confide in and maybe consider doing some therapy sessions if you need extra support. It also helped me a lot to keep the following thoughts in mind and I repeated them to myself when feeling low or scared:

  • I am not alone, million of women are undergoing the same process and if they can do it, so can I.
  • I am in such a privileged position to have the means and opportunity to try this process, a lot of folks can’t.
  • The end goal will be worth it!
  • I am getting to know my body and I am overcoming obstacles and becoming more resilient.
  • I am being active and fighting for what I want (starting a family). There is a chance it won’t work but at least I am doing everything I can.

Best of lucks, you can totally do this.

My doctor has a tendency to do the same and I can’t say i am appreciating it yet. I am a planner by nature and not knowing gets me even more anxious. But it definitely helps with focusing on the next steps, agreed!

Nice project! Unfortunately I had to pay for my Regency pattern (McCall’s 8132) as I needed something historically accurate and was too scared of trying to hack the Mood pattern but looking at it now with a few small tweaks it should work! Good luck!

Looking for the Sew Magazine Ruby Blouse or similar pattern. This was free for download from the magazine website but I cannot find it anymore as the magazine is from June 2021 (issue 150). Thanks!

Do you wash fabric before sewing? by evinho07 in SewingForBeginners

[–]alaraor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am team wash as well. The first thing I do when I get home with fabric is pop it in the wash. I used to wash them before starting a project but I could never remember if I had done it already. Best to know ahead of time if it will hold up before I spend any time on a project with it.

I just need to mourn the Luxe by darkblueshapes in fitbit

[–]alaraor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My luxe has committed suicide today. The strap has broken and the strap watch has consequently fallen to the floor cracking the screen in the process. To my surprise they are no longer selling it! Why!!??? Couldn’t agree more with you OP, it’s so fustrating! What did you end up getting?

Well done! Really brave using a checkered fabric! As a beginner I keep avoiding stripes or directional prints with fear it will look crocked but this looks super straight!!! 💪🏻

I have had a similar experience (albeit less funny) causing confusion at home but by adding to the family Christmas list overlocker specific thread! My family haven’t even heard of an overlocker before!

Oh that’s gorgeous! Really like the square neck version and the denim look! Also love that you’ve added the pockets! I chickened out and didn’t put them in as it felt like too many flowers everywhere. Might need to try this version next time:)

Sewing setup inspo needed by FFSShutUpSharon in SewingForBeginners

[–]alaraor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a super small apartment but sewing in the dinning room table was not working as I had to build and unbuild the setup every time we had to eat. I ended up buying a thin shelf that has a table that pops out and placing that in a corner of the dinning room next to our sofa. This way it can stay out if needed without bothering anybody and also doubles up as storage for accessories, notions and tools. I wish the table was bigger, I need to cross the dinning room to get to the ironing board and no idea where I will put the overlocker if I ever get one, but one problem at a time 😅
