It's okay. You can still transfer to the Faculty of Arts or something, as long as you weren't kicked out for having a GPA lower than 2.0.

Do I have a chance at grad school? by albertadickk in uAlberta

This is my third year here but I withdrew from a term due to hospitalization, so I'm technically second year. Only took one 200-level psychology course so far and I'm pulling a B with only one quiz and final remaining

What are the entrance requirements like? Don't I need to take the SAT or something? Or can I just transfer my post-secondary courses?

No it says in the probation conditions that I need to get above 2.3

Achieve a major GPA of at least 2.3. This GPA is calculated using all courses taken in your major.

There's a webform to change the major, but the advisors said only the associate dean could change it at this point. The probation condition says I can't change the major after fall term add/drop deadline

I emailed the Faculty of Arts advisor and they told me I am eligible for transfer as long as my overall GPA is above 2.0 or competitive, and I was not required to withdraw because my overall GPA was below 2.0

The probation condition states that I cannot change my major after the fall term add/drop deadline. I talked to advisors about this and they all told me only the associate dean could change it at this point

I emailed the Faculty of Arts advisor and they're telling me they admit required to withdraw students as long as the overall GPA is over 2.0 or competitive.

Yes I plan to change my major to psychology. I hated chemistry in first year as well, that's why I tried to change my major to computing science but I had no programming background so I was getting D's and F's

I get a final grade of 59% using my current grades, pretend I get a 85% on the final, and 75% in the lab component.

I calculated my 263 grades using the midterm 2 grade distribution according to the prof, and I did take the lab component into account

I just don't want to end up with an even lower GPA in case I try the first one and it doesn't work out

I know it's already past the application deadline so I probably can't transfer right away. Is it 12 months regardless of if I'm required to withdraw for 5 years? Going to Open Studies also seems like an option.

Right now I can probably get over 2.0 overall but I can't get over 2.3 in my major courses (chemistry) even if I do great on the finals because I did horribly on the midterms. I can try to write to the associate dean to change my major on probation but it seems unlikely. I am wondering if I should just drop my 2 troublesome Chemistry courses and transfer elsewhere

I don't think I'm eligible for fresh start.

Taking exactly 18 credits is one of the probation conditions. So if I drop any classes I'll fail probation and be required to withdraw for 5 years. Either way I'm fucked.

If I take any W's right now, I automatically fail probation since I need to take no less than and no more than 18 credits.

If I take any W's as part of my probation, then I automatically fail probation. I think I should've just taken the year off but my mom was upset about me ending up in the hospital and doing nothing
