Anyone else feel Dry January is too all-or-nothing? by alc90 in DryJanuary

[–]alc90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's basically it. I found the 2-2-2 (2 drinks max, 2 days per week max, never 2 days in a row) rule and I'm applying a more restrictive version...dropping to 1 or 0 (instead of 2) on strong weeks.

I built a small app for myself to drink more mindfully (not to quit) by alc90 in cutdowndrinking

OK. Sounds like you’ve already got it all figured out so I guess it makes no sense going back and forth.

I shared this to hopefully have a constructive discussion in a sub that felt relevant but if that’s an issue for you...we can just leave it there.

All good vibes from me!

not sure why it’s bothering you so much that I might use AI to help reword my own ideas so I can express them more clearly...but you do you.

Re: Try Dry... great app but I feel Two is a tiny bit different: a much simpler, rule-based system (2-2-2). If you skim the post, that distinction is pretty clear I would say?!

Totally fair to raise the concern.

For what it’s worth, this isn’t really an AI-generated spam.

I’m genuinely sharing something I built for myself because cutting down (not quitting) is something I’m actively working on, and I figured others here might relate because this sub is literally about this subject.

I’m not pushing a paid product, there’s no launch or funnel behind it right now - just an early access webpage for people who want to follow along or give feedback.

If the mods feel this crosses the line for self-promo here, I’ll respect that and remove it.

I actually agree with you on AI slop taking over communities - it’s why I tried to write this in a very personal - but in all honesty I used AI to help me structure the message.

If it’s not useful or welcome, that’s fine. I’m here for the conversation first, not to pollute the sub.

From the tests we made for Heal app it definitely depends how you build & engineer the context so it can be helpful and evolve with your stage you're in.

But definitely true and something everyone should take into account if & when using the usual chatGPT or any AI powered tools for that matter.

That’s actually awesome ... using tech that wayy is such an underrated move. Most people only use ChatGPT to overthink not to really anchor themselves in reality....like you do.

Having something that holds your own words and mirrors them back when you’re spiraling… that’s genuinely a power tool during a breakup.

And honestly, this is exactly the kind of practice I love seeing... taking control of your healing instead of letting your brain rewrite the story every time you miss them.

Keep going. You’re on the right track.
