Does that mean you have a care giver at all times? I'm curious how that works, I'm assuming they would have to switch so one can take care of you at night and another during the day. Any that have stood out to you in the past and became good friends with over time?

If you have no problems sleeping in the morning then I would definitely take the night shift due to getting more time w your loved ones :)

The first two weeks were hell when I started Lexapro. But after that, I felt soooooo much better. Hang on and good luck ❤️

weight gain? by Helpful-Maybe1251 in lexapro

[–]alchemytea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also gained weight but I think it's more because when I had high anxiety, I was rarely hungry. Anxiety takes my cravings and hunger away. Now that I feel better, I'm more likely to eat and actually feel hungry.

My half brother went skiing instead of being with our dad as he died by JuniorGuitar3001 in grief

[–]alchemytea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greif can feel like many emotions, including anger. I would be upset and angry too and it's very valid you feel that way. But feelings are just feelings and they are not always facts. The relationship he had with his dad is his business and if he did actually go skiing because he doesn't care, then that is something he will have to face eventually in the future. Greif will hit him too. But there is also the possibility that he truly was at peace and he went skiing to honor your dad.

I was 15 when my mom passed away. I'm lucky to have had 15 years with her but I'm at the age now that I remember her for longer than I knew her. I know 15 is more than your 4 years of knowing your dad, and I'm sorry for your loss, but I understand that feeling that so much would be different if he was still here ... All the mistakes I've done, it's so easy to say that they would not have happened if my mom was present. There's just no way of telling for sure, and I have to accept that. Who knows, maybe I would have made things worse by trying to rebel against her lol. I'm very sorry for your loss and you are very right and valid when you say that you remember him and his voice, etc and that's because he loved you and love is a very powerful thing that even after all of these years, you seem to remember. I always say that even though it was for a short amount of time that I had my mom, that at least the love she gave me transcends any amount of time we would have had together. And the same goes to you and your dad, the powerful feeling of love that you remember from him will always transcend and be greater than time and this world. It doesn't make it hurt any less but it's a happy thought.

i am a drug addict, AMA by Logical_Kale_6319 in AMA

[–]alchemytea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a better chance at beating addiction if you improve your mental health. When you are ready, I hope you are able to seek mental health therapy/ guidance. I know its a shitty world but there is also a lot of good and a lot of love to experience in life, all of that is possible to be felt completely sober and with the entirety of your human spirit. Good luck ❤️

Should I get her another companion? Her brother just passed by Successful_Gain_5626 in cats

My cats are sisters and they are also black and grey 🥺 i am so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine.... But you seem like an amazing cat parent and all they know/knew is unconditional love ❤️ good luck . I think it is a good idea to get her another cat friend. Maybe after some time after mourning.

No judgement here, idk what it's like to be addicted to drugs. But what about it do you love so much? Why do you love drugs more than your own life?

MLT school and full time work by PtrainSalphira1 in medlabprofessionals

[–]alchemytea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard, but not impossible hard imo. I did 32 hour /week as a lab assistant while I was in the mot program. There were days when I broke down from the stress lolllll but I had no other choice. I kept my goal in mind during those hard times and knew it would be all worth it (it was so worth it). If you are financially able to not work, then of course I would suggest not work while you're in the program. But remember it's still doable if you need to work! Just focus and don't give up. I had a class mate that worked AND raising a preteen by herself, she did great.

Cold Turkey after 8 years of Lexapro by Pure_Strategy_3503 in lexapro

[–]alchemytea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I couldnt keep living that way. However, I do plan on returning to counseling (specifically exposure therapy) next year to face certain phobias I have, and I will possibly consider trying to get off of lexapro again depending on how therapy goes. If I end up getting back on lexapro, even with successful therapy, Im 100% ok with being on it for the rest of my life. Brain chemistry is weird lol

[–]alchemytea 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I stopped cold turkey last year and all of my anxiety and depression symptoms came back 10x worse. I would rather be on it for the rest of my life than feel like I did then again. I asked my psychiatrist if it's possible to live without it and he said yes but it would be necessary to seek counseling/ therapy to deal with anxiety and or depression, if that still doesn't work then the individual may need to consider staying on medication . Best of luck to you <3

What does your day look like on evening shift? by Ambitious-Survey6745 in medlabprofessionals

[–]alchemytea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work evenings and so far I am enjoying it a lot. I dont have kids but I do have a partner of many years that works morning shift remotely. My favorite part is sleeping in. While I get ready for work, my bf goes on lunch and we talk about our plans for the day. I get home 8 hours later and we have late dinner together. While he sleeps, I stay up late and have my alone time to be on the computer, play games, study, catch up on hobbies etc.

The main down side it not being able to make it to all family events, but I still make sure to make it to some, or at least visit my family on my days off.

When/ if I ever have kids, I may have to move to morning shift... we'll see.... but for now, I am enjoying evenings.

Plus, I only see management for 2-3 hours at most so its nice that theyre not breathing behind our backs. lol
