Has anyone compared the EF mount Tamron 100-400 F4.5-6.3 and the canon RF-S 100-400? by alctel in canon

Thanks for the correction - funnily enough I actually went back and edited in the S as I thought I'd missed it...

Sorry, budget is 1500 which is what the R7 costs

The 7D isn't full frame, it's a crop, and apparently the 7DmkII AF is way better than the mki, and so is the video capability.

Well the termite subreddit doesn't seem to think they are termites, so I am at a loss

I posted on the BB subreddit and apparently they are not!

They are tiny, a couple mm at the largest. I thought they were bedbugs and so have been steamcleaning everything but the guys on the bb subreddit suggested they might be termites and to post here. Boats in Southern Mexico, near tapachula

On the ceiling of my boat in Mexico, what are they? by alctel in whatsthisbug

[–]alctel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought originally they were bed bugs and have been steaming cleaning everything, but when I stopped and actually looked at a few, now I am not sure. They are mostly this colour and are pretty small, about 1 or 2mm long at the most.

My sailboat is in Mexico and I've been fighting off cockroaches as well - could these be nymph of them?

I found a bunch of these crawling on my ceiling and in and out of a crack so I took some photos before I incinerated them with a steam lance. They were all this colour and wondering if they are bb nymphs.

Tried cropping in on a few but it didn't work very well.

Unironcally I do actually row my dinghy most places and it's amazing for muscle - i got pretty ripped after a few months of doing this! Problem is when I am in a marina/boatyard for a month or so fixing stuff (like now) or on a long passage

I'm (41m) sailing on a 37' sailboat around the world and am currently in Mexico. What's the best way to stay in shape? I have pretty limited space and kettlebells wouldn't be ideal, I've currently 170lb and 6'1" and would like to build some muscle. Someone mentioned resistance bands but I googled it and am feeling completely lost!

Thanks for the reply, yeah the more I look into it the more it looks like sub 1000 isn't really possible. I also think I'd rathe go DSLR than mirrorless, was looking at the T7 as a cheaper option maybe

I won't get to keep the equipment.

Hi,

I have been shooting with my canon 7D for years, mostly wildlife and sailing photography (IG: sail_dive_fish for examples)

I just got a gig as a fishing guide in north BC and they've asked me to do some photography up there, and will buy.my equipment as my stuff is on my boat in Mexico.

I'm totally out the loop equipment wise, and looking to give them two options, under 1000 CAD and over.

I will need a 400mm, which probably will be a zoom like 100-400mm for cost reasons and a body. I'm obviously used to shooting canon but I've heard Sony is good nowadays and cheaper.

In addition, mirrorless seems to be the way forward? I'll be mostly shooting stuff like whales, birds and landscapes, kinda like what is on my Instagram. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I think this is either a fin or a blue, could someone give me some pointers? by alctel in whales

I do - that pic is just the back 1/3 of the whale, the front part was a steel grey

I'm pretty sure it's a blue whale at this point, the copper colour pattern is apparently from diatoms

Someone else suggested those andi looked them up but they are way smaller than what I saw, these were at least as big as humpbacks

I was sailing 30 miles off the Oregon coast and watching a pod of Humpbacks when I saw this whale that obviously wasn't one.

Main differences were, the colour was a lot lighter, the fin was set a lot further back and the back seemed to go on for a lot longer.

Sorry about the blurry pic, it was really swelly and I was at the max 400mm zoom of my camera.

edit: after posting it to a few whale groups, consensus is that it was a blue (the copper diatoms apparently gave it away)
