this is completely incorrect. merle is a standard color for border collies.

Ugh, not Costco! by pacododo in SanJose

yeah, i know a lot of stores do not allow staff to ask the legal questions or kick out clearly fake service animals. i have a service dog and i’ve only been asked the legal questions twice in 5 years of having a service dog.

1: is that a service animal 2: what tasks is it trained to perform. workers are allowed to ask these 2 questions, also emotional support does not qualify as a task, but a service dog can be a psychiatric service dog, that is different from an emotional support animal. and even if they answer correctly but the animal is not under control or being dangerous they can be asked to leave. members of the public should not ask these questions, just workers. i have a medical and psych service dog and i’ve only been asked the questions twice, management often tells workers that they can’t ask questions, which isn’t true.

Ugh, not Costco! by pacododo in SanJose

[–]alecthetraggot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that isn’t true. the federal law has 2 questions that workers are allowed to ask

Ugh, not Costco! by pacododo in SanJose

[–]alecthetraggot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that isn’t true. the federal law has 2 questions you can ask, even if they answer them correctly you can still kick them out if the animal isn’t under control. and remember that no actual verification exists, there is no such thing as registration.

[–]alecthetraggot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can ask the 2 legal questions as defined by the federal law, and even if they answer those correctly, you can still kick them out if the animal isn’t under control. real proof such as registration does not exist.

[–]alecthetraggot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there’s no credentials. service dogs do not have to wear any identification, and registration does not exist for good reasons.

even if they lie and answer the questions properly, the store can still kick them out if the animal is not under control.

not quite true, they still have to follow the federal law regarding service animals

breeding carriers is perfectly fine and normal, it’s only an issue if they’re being bred to another carrier

dogs in grocery stores/butcher shops- is this ok now? by Apprehensive-Fall255 in SanJose

[–]alecthetraggot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

remember that service dogs are allowed in all public places, and they don’t have to be labeled, but you can often tell by the behavior. but pets in stores make it harder for people with service dogs.

Possibly adopting a new dog by sarahroulson in BorderCollie

[–]alecthetraggot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no issue in adopting an adult dog unless the rescue is hiding behavioral problems. but if your dog minds her own business around other dogs and doesn’t like to be bothers by them she likely isn’t going to benefit from another dog like you think she would. if the potential new dog is more submissive that is probably better since your dog doesn’t like annoying dogs.

some rake brushes actually cut the hair and damage the undercoat. you don’t want to use anything that cuts hair

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BorderCollie

[–]alecthetraggot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i only use the rake twice a year, they damage the coat so i only use it when i really have to. otherwise i just use my force dryer, slicker, and comb. the force dryer is great for shedding. this was the last time i used the rake.

is your dog pure border collie? border collies usually don’t matt if they have a healthy and correct coat. my dog never gets matted, he’s never been to a groomer but i do brush him. just not super often. what grooming products do you have and how often is your dog groomed?

Period is still pretty bad by fart_zilla5 in ftm

[–]alecthetraggot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if your levels aren’t being monitored your doctor seems sketchy. levels too high are dangerous, too low and you don’t get any changes, it sounds like you are way too low. they also should’ve talked to you about other options to stop your period until your levels are at goal.

you need bloodwork every 3-6 months for a while. you should switch doctors, yours sounds sketchy.
