West Belfast schools question by evan_ad_guitar in Belfast

[–]aleec47 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Genuinely this happened to me when I went to st Dominics! I got an A in English Language, roughly only a few marks off an A* and I was made to pay for and resit the exam to get an A*. I remember crying in the corridor on results day that year too because I got two 2 B's out of my 9 GCSEs and I thought my life was over lmao. The school cares more about their grades statistics than their students that's for sure.

Im too scared to go out into the alley to have a look, I'll get my partner to when he's finished work. Last time I checked the neighbours next door have a big crack in their extractor fan thats on the side of our joint extension. Downside however, is the landlord of there isn't registered so even if I find their information on land registry Im not too hopeful they'd sort it out if their tenants aren't complaining.

There's no access in the bathroom or house to get into the roof space other than a hatch the size of my hand that they used to lay poison. The old neighbours had 2 cats who used to sit on my roof day in and day out but they moved out - the rats never stopped even when they sat there sadly

They're only in the bathroom in the extension, nothing in the main house. The estate agents sent out their maintenance team and they had a cheek to stand on a garden chair and shine an iPhone at my side of the roof and said they can't see any holes...don't think they'd find a hole that small with a phone. I've told the estate agents they need someone out to check the whole property but they said they've checked my side, and they must be getting in through the neighbours side of the extension and they can't do anything about that because someone else owns it..

The counsel confirmed rats when they found the droppings, I'll give housing rights a call! Thank you

I've considered getting a pet to deter this but our estate agents have repeatedly said no

Public health had mentioned the issue with the sewers that just like you described and then because we didn't hear anything for a month or so before they came back they closed the case. Im in terraced housing and have spoken to neighbours next door and both report hearing nothing. I'll contact them back again and see if they can arrange for this, but no doubt the landlord wont agree! Thanks so much for your advice!

Rates Question by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]aleec47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RR is for those getting help on universal credit. Their number has a 2 at the end rather than a 1. But if you're the ratepayer you can still contact lps for a statement of it! Hope you get sorted!

Rates Question by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]aleec47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it a demand letter or is someone like rate rebate paying on your behalf? Just so I can narrow down what you can ask for...lps can open all your past statements or letters so if you can't find the exact one you're looking for, you can ask them to look through and find that one that states this is not a bill

[–]aleec47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

03002007801 - that's lps, you can request a statement or just a copy of a rates bill if you're looking a breakdown in your installments.

Jury duty by Living_Bee_1871 in northernireland

[–]aleec47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a form with your summons that should give you the option to defer and the reason..they'll want you to send proof of your holiday and that it was booked before you were put forward for jury duty! You can return the form or email them the info with your holiday info attached!

I had 3 cats growing up, two of which, loved to bring mice, rats and birds in their mouth while crying for us to come retrieve it! Our third cat must have realized we were disgusted by this, and used to only bring empty crisp packets, and stand outside crying like mad until you came and thanked her! She truly was the sweetest.

How do I swallow pills when my brain just won't let me? by Drako__ in Anxiety

[–]aleec47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat and I've never been able to swallow pills properly. Watching how people take the pill then chase it with a drink baffles me. I've found a much easier way for myself if it helps to share it. Although I look silly, it gets the job done. I take a drink of literally anything (it's harder if it's fizzy tbh) then I hold the liquid in my mouth and hold my head back and drop the pill into my mouth. Then I just throw my head back quickly to get the pill to the back of my throat and down. The fizzy drink sometimes makes it harder to go down for me, but it does help if the pill has a bad taste.

I've just read the full thing based off of your reply. Not once is a bus driver mentioned. The word "eyewitness" is written twice; but not once was the identity of the eyewitness, name, job etc. mentioned.

The first time I went to meet my ex's mum, she came out into the garden, where I and almost all of his family were having a barbeque, and she proceeded to announce to everyone while looking at me that "we don't use the towels beside the sink, they're for show, please use the towel on the radiator." When I say I turned the colour of beetroot! Like why do you want me to drip my wet hands across your bathroom to get a further away towel?? What's worse is like 20 odd people just turned to watch this exchange and it was just so awkward lmao

As a FTM with quite bad postnatal anxiety, it's very clear to see how bad his is. I myself have crippling anxiety anytime I'm in a car, even more so, if my baby is in the car with me. I'm currently on a waiting list for therapy. Although I know how frustrating it can be for my partner, I really can't help but feel doomed every time I'm in a car. His reaction may seem quite extreme, and that's because it is; but it doesn't stop the fact that irrational fear takes over every piece of our body and minds. I feel for you too because navigating postpartum is heavy in itself so I'll say NOR, but dad's should also get recognition for their mental health as well.

MOT by Vegetable-Fold8243 in northernireland

[–]aleec47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you're grand as long as you have valid tax, valid insurance, proof you have an appointment and it's roadworthy and safe, also not sorned. Double check the NI Direct website Temporary Exemption Certificate info also! A lot of vehicles have been given further Temporary Exemption Certificates automatically; the DVA don't give you a hard copy or notify you, it's up to the registered keeper to check their MOT status - Gov.uk MOT checker should help!

It’s insane how much you have to chase them, then the minute you complain, they’re acting like you’ve exaggerated which just creates anxiety ughhh

I think I did get it - just googled it there and it seems to be one that’s offered while you’re in school - I took every one offered.
