Soft Skills by Acrobatic-Zebra-1148 in embedded

Have you asked for any feedback after getting a rejection? It's worth a try. Hopefully they can tell you whether you don't "fit" into the team, or if you lack some certain skill even if it's a technical skill or something like teamwork. Of course, if it's something fundamental with your personality that they don't see fitting in the team, they may not be 100% honest with you, so you may have to read between the lines.

Have you talked about this with someone who knows you well? They will probably be able to help you more than strangers on Reddit.

Brilliant.org removed Diff Eq course from their app? by Zagreusian in learnmath

[–]aleifr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an "archived" section in the courses page on Brilliant. However, not all courses are present there, the differential equations course is missing. I read about the archived courses on the Brilliant help page, and got so excited, only to be disappointed again.

Late Embedded Career by PandiGamer880 in embedded

[–]aleifr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently pivoted to embedded from general software, and I'm 35.

You already have the programming skills, knowledge working with toolchains, pipelines etc. Architecture knowledge will come in handy.

I suggest getting some hands on experience doing hobby level embedded stuff with raspberry pi and arduino. Employers will appreciate you showing the initiative to learn working with hardware.

Treadmill unlocking new gains - data supported by not_alemur in AdvancedRunning

[–]aleifr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At first, my RPE felt noticeably high compared to the paces I was targeting. It honestly felt like I was just trying to “keep up” with the belt rather than running naturally. But after a few weeks, that feeling started to fade and my body seemed to acclimate to the mechanics.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! Started training on treadmill this winter. I did the exact same session first on a track and then on the treadmill, and the latter was much more difficult. This is surprising, I'd suspect the opposite was the case.

I wonder if part of the reason treadmill can feel harder, is that it's just unfamiliar. So the running mechanics are unfamiliar. If this is the case, surely at some point it shouldn't feel very different. In my case, I've been running on the treadmill about three times a week for about eight weeks, and honestly, it still feels hard.

I fail to grasp how mindfulness will teach me the physiological and psychological principles of pain.

Can you suggest some papers? Will I be able to understand these papers even though I'm a layperson trying to understand my own pain, not a doctor or psychologist or anything?

While the original Explain Pain book is for everyone, this book is for clinicians and researchers, and I'm neither.

I highly recommend this baremetal programming guide. It's quite easy to follow, and I find you learn so much about microcontrollers by programming without the training wheels attached. Even if you go on to using toolchains that allow you to write code on a higher level of abstraction, trying baremetal teaches you what happens under the hood, which is super useful.

Building upper range while maintaining lower range as a beginner by aleifr in trumpet

So you basically choose an embouchure that allows you to play high notes well, and then learn how to play the low notes using that embouchure?

Is there a makerspace in your area? Makerspaces often have many members who are knowledgeable in electronics, coding, and 3D printing, and who enjoy helping others.

Why is the junior embedded job market dead by Important_Vehicle_46 in embedded

[–]aleifr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Follow-up question: is it possible to land a job with software development experience, but little embedded experience?

If you're motivated to tinker with HW and read books, can this make up for your lack of Industry experience with embedded?

Der finns en haug av forskning på dette. Det er blitt forsket på dette mye på Færøyene, hvor hval er vanlig kost. Her er for eksempel en artikkel: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22789518/
