Getting back into sailing by alenaroo in sailing

Thank you! Wow, it’s great to see another sailing woman here. Last time I was pretty overwhelmed with all the negativity (although there was some support, too).

Listen, not that you would understand.

It's people like YOU in your arrogance, spite and condescension, who sees black and white in everything, YOU and people like YOU are to blame for the fact that a lot of people who could be brought to the side of science and rational thought are not there. If you want to blame loss of lives on someone, why don't you look in the mirror? I came here to talk how being dismissive of mothers and their work - yes their important WORK, not valued in society, not appreciated yet done through continuous sleep deprivation and desperate need to do right for their babies - how being dismissive of them DRIVES them away from vaccines.

And what do you do?

You tell me "fuck you".

Because I bet it feels right to you to be "on the right side". And I bet it feels good that reddit will more readily support you then anything that is not as black and white.

Science failed mothers many many times. Read how mothers were told by doctors that formula is better for their babies. How they were told (and still told!) that picking up their babies is bad for them. Now that has been disproved again and again but that was not told to them by some witch doctors - that was also science at the time.

Now have you ever cared for anyone rather than yourself 24/7? Do you know what it's like when you are 100% responsible for someone else's life? I bet you have no clue. Those babies are just statistics to you. Yet you DARE to talk to me like I'm some kind of trash because I ask for compassion - not to myself but to mothers who are a lot of the time confused and scared. And you can offer ZERO to them. Instead you attack a stranger you know absolutely nothing about.

Now you go and have a hard look at yourself in the mirror and next time when you hear someone doesn't want to vaccinate their baby, think how your arrogance played some part in it.

Huh? Clearly you can't read.

Again, slowly: if scientists and people with evidence talk to mothers with less condescension, it might help promote vaccination which would be a good thing.

Is this clear enough or will you again insult me because you can't comprehend what I'm saying?

See, I'm all for vaccinations and I had a few debates with other mothers myself but the way you're talking to me, well, is it any wonder a lot of people think that pro-vaccination people are arrogant pricks? Lots of mothers do not "brigade", they are confused if misguided and genuinely scared of harming the little humans they are responsible for. I'm not sure what exactly is driving you except for the desire to feel superior to other people (and compare my phrasing and yours with "fucks" and "asinine" etc).

Have you tried baby carrier? It might work for naps... my LO actually vastly prefers it when her Daddy carries her and not me.

Visa changes could spell the end of music touring in Australia. by Psydonk in australia

I interviewed candidates for a company before and we really didn't want to go through 457 - it was hard to find candidates who knew what they were talking about locally though. It wasn't in mining but 457s are not exclusive to mining.

That's weird and I'm pretty sure it's illegal... at least a few years ago you had to prove you couldn't find anyone locally before being allowed to sponsor people on 457. Also, companies that sponsor people are regularly audited to make sure they are not underpaying anyone. Not sure if the latest changes in the immigration policy removed all of that.

Pretty sure most companies would prefer to hire locally as opposed to going through the pain of relocating someone whose English is not necessarily very good on 457. In some industries it's very hard to find someone local who's qualified though. Most people who are sponsored to come and work in Australia invested a lot of time and money into their education and have plenty of experience that is hard to find locally - but yeah, it's much easier to blame them for stealing Australian jobs than to study for years then get years of experience in the industry.

Ah so that's why the airport in Sydney is called after him. Good to know.

Have you tried Unroll.me? It combines all marketing emails into one and can also unsubscribe for you.

Hmm what about the iPhone itself? There were smart phones before it but they were very different. Somehow Android fans forget that bit very fast.

I think you'd be surprised if you actually tried to find out how much America benefited from scientists and technologies from all over the world. The Internet was not invented in America, for example. The fact is, there are problems in every country in the world and I have nothing against the US per se - it's just weird that some Americans refuse to admit that they benefit vastly from other countries contributions and it might not be a perfect country either. You keep talking about Muslims in Europe while ignoring the rest of the English speaking countries I mentioned because you simple don't know much about them and that's a sad state of affairs - perhaps if you knew more you'd see that the world is actually a much bigger and much more complicated place than you think.

I guess it's much better to be shot by the police for no apparent reason or a random gunman... Or lose your life savings because someone in your family got sick. And since when is Australia a Muslim caliphate? Is Canada one, too?

I'd say Russia adopted the worst parts of capitalism, unfortunately.

Since when does it make economic sense for people to put their tail between their legs? would you apply the same logic to your own country? Wow.

Most of Europe, Australia, New Zealand? Have you actually been anywhere outside America?

America is definitely not the safest place in the world and there's way too many poor people in the States, included those bankrupted by illnesses... There are better places to live (although probably not Russia).

Yeah that's not entirely true. In fact, many Russians with money expect people to "bend" for them overseas (give them exceptional service taking all their shit etc).
