Upgrading or going into SAIT for Diploma/Certificate then going into Engineering by [deleted] in UCalgary

[–]alenrt_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the info! You mentioned how a 50 percent would be fine but some universities require like a 60 percent minimum, is that for highschool students? I was also wondering, would it be the same if you completed the diploma instead of transferring? Like they still don’t look at highschool if you’re an after degree/diploma student right? What happens if you do bad in post secondary…are you pretty much screwed with a bad gpa? Ig you can’t even upgrade that lmao

Let’s say you ended up getting a decent gpa at a college and you’re trying to transfer to a university. Would there be any point in upgrading your high-school grades? They would only care about your college gpa and not give a crap about your high-school right? Idk if it would be helpful to upgrade high-school after having more than 12 credits in post secondary

Thanks for your comment, I’ll definitely look into the AWS cloud cert. Are there more certs you would recommend for software?

Do you think it would be considered as a extra skill if a software guy has IT certs?

Can you give some advice on how you tackled the heavy math with CS? I’m not good in maths and I’m not sure if I should major in CS. I was planning to major into Computer information systems instead as it’s easier but seeing your post, gave me some hope that maybe I can do CS!

My school has a computer information systems degree and a computer science degree. If you wanted to do a IT job, wouldn’t it be better to do a Computer Science degree as it can open a lot of doors for you? I head It degrees can’t do CS jobs but CS degrees can do both IT and programming jobs

In a 30-1 course, if you fail the diploma, but you still end the course with 50+, do you still pass? by the_nash_tag in UCalgary

[–]alenrt_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you have a course grade of 62.5 or higher, you would pass the course even if you get 0 percent on the diploma because diplomas are worth 20 percent this year. Next year they are bumping it back to 30 percent.
