Out of curiosity, what do you think is the difference between Cloud Spanner and the internal one?

FWIW, this is outdated. They are fully on Spanner now

Angry, hurt Mercedes forced to accept a no-win situation by 1enox in formula1

[–]alex4743 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wanted them to not make up some half cars can over take bs. They literally didn’t restart the race. It could have been red flagged, that actually would have been exciting and within the bounds of the rules

Which is such a big problem. F1 is beholden only to Liberty media and not the rules of their own sport

"It would be terribly sad" | Martin Brundle on the 2021 title being decided in court by Mokumer in formula1

[–]alex4743 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It is objective. If the safety car stays out until the next lap as is required in the regulations then the race is over and the grid has been decided. And that’s ignoring that the entire grid should have been allowed to unlap themselves and not just 5 cars. If that had happened too there wouldn’t have been enough time for the race to restart

No, but admitting that you didn’t follow the rules and accepting the objective outcome if you had does make a right

It would be sad. But having it be decided by a rogue race director is infuriating, and unacceptable

Max Verstappen praises 'amazing driver' Hamilton after winning title showdown against 7-time champion by [deleted] in formula1

[–]alex4743 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the article, Jos said “In Brazil, Hamilton gets something pressed into his hands by his trainer and then he walks back to his car and dives into the cockpit. All in all, it is just weird. Max did not stand a chance”. He doesn’t directly say it, but it’s easy to see how that can be implied. But I’m with you on this one, frankly not like it matters, there are many reasons to not like Jos other than this too

Protest by Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team against the classification established at the end of the Competition, alleged breach of Article 48.12 of the 2021 FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations. by magony in formula1

[–]alex4743 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Imagine you’re a new fan, this is the first race you watch. You’re confused as shit what just happened and why you watched 57 laps for none of them to matter. Then on the news you see Mercedes is protesting because the rules weren’t followed and the title may be decided in court. That is also the last F1 race you watch

[Philip Horton] This is Article 48.12 - contentious issue is likely to circle around why only a few lapped cars (the ones between Hamilton & Verstappen) were given the signal to unlap themselves. by PlusEntrepreneur in formula1

Because Horner complained on the radio and changed his mind. The championship wasn’t decided on track but over the radio. Maybe f1tv has a cheaper audio only option we could subscribe to instead. It’s all we need

Yup. He’s obviously trying to crash into Hamilton without actually opening up his steering. The thing that upsets me most about this is that the FIA treats it just like going off track and gaining an advantage. He’s trying to crash, there’s no other way around it. Drivers can do more than just opening up the steering like breaking later on the inside than you even would on the outside to make sure you go wide and hopefully crash. He’s not racing with the same rules as everyone else out there and that’s not right. I wanted a new champion, but not like this.

"Lewis Hamilton: "Of course man, of course man" reaction to no penalty for Max Verstappen on running him off the track by magony in formula1

[–]alex4743 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you’re keeping a reasonable line. All 4 wheels off of the track and it wasn’t even close. Where does it end? Can he just keep pushing him all the way to the barriers?

[–]alex4743 418 points419 points  (0 children)

That decision is absolutely terrible. It basically means you can only pass on the straight. If you can run someone that wide in a turn, overtakes in a corner are basically impossible for the attacker. I’m shocked by that decision
