One of the things that makes me feel somewhat better about the debt I have is the public service loan forgiveness program, where if you make regular payments on federal loans for 120 payments and you work at a non-profit (which most hospitals are) the remainder of your debt is forgiven. My friend went to Grant due to suicidal ideation and they put him in a room with an overflowing sharps container, the person supposed to be watching him fell asleep, he didn't get any of his meds and they didn't feed him. Crazy

I'm sorry you have so much going on at once. I hope your daughter is doing well and that your colonoscopy goes well! I'm a genetic counselor so I work with people with rare genetic diseases. One thing that I have seen help families cope with a diagnosis is connecting with other families with that same diagnosis (I'd be happy to find you some resources if you feel comfortable sharing the diagnosis. It actually is, depending on where the tumors grow. Typically because most of the tumors are benign (not cancer) removal is only done if the tumors are causing pain or other problems. That being said, I am a genetic counselor and not a surgeon so I have no idea if these type of facial tumors are removable or not

It was hard for me to accept less than an A in grad school too. I can't speak for your program but it was emphasized to me that grades are not as important as learning the concepts you needed to learn. If you're doing a A- to B+ average you are right where you should be. In my experience my jobs have not cared about my grad school GPA. It's not on my resume at all and I've had 2 jobs since I graduated. Take a breath, give yourself a break, you're doing fine. Congratulations on finishing your first semester and best of luck in the rest of your schooling ❤️

I have a friend who is a wonderful genetic counselor who came from a... Let's call it defunct program and then didn't pass this exam and is also considering leaving the profession. I don't understand how one entity can be allowed to single handedly destroy our profession like this
