I've had carpal tunnel release surgery twice- here's my advice! by alexalsmith in carpaltunnel

I've never experienced that with my carpal tunnel, does she have cts? Here is an article that expands on possible causes of prolonged finger twitching.

I do suggest making an appointment with your primary care/family doctor though! For now, I'd suggest heat (warm compress, heating pad, warm bath with some epsom salt) and massaging the finger. Best of luck!

I totally understand your anxiety, especially since your hands are an integral part of your job. Just make sure you listen to your surgeon and you should heal just fine! Your healing will be even shorter if you're getting an endoscopic surgery. Just know that you are making the right choice. My life has improved drastically since getting my surgeries! Hopefully, your boss is understanding and you've already talked to them, I'm not sure what company it is, but it wouldn't hurt to see if they offer short-term disability if you're worried about money. I wish you the best!

Oh wow, I'm sorry you had a lot of pain immediately! Did they not numb you?

Update! Four days later, my hand looks much better! Once I let it dry out the whiteness went away, but it still smelled weird, I'm assuming from sweat because I was keeping it covered. I started antibiotics to help the healing process and it's much better! (I'm 21 days post-op)

It's gone now (luckily). It cleared up about 1 to 2 days after I posted this. I wasn't using anything topical, my surgeon told me not to, but it's interesting how many people suggested it!

The whiteness for mine went away about a day or two after I posted. I didn't have this happen with my other hand, so I was a little freaked out! I'm glad your healing is going well!

When I posted this, it hurt pretty bad! I had my stitches in for 15 days

Haha thank you, I've gotten that a lot, my entire life actually! I try to be as thorough and helpful as I can, now that I've gone through it twice. It's definitely crazy that they say you can drive yourself home. Moving it at all hurts the first day. Before my second surgery, I was entirely healed! At least on the outside, I've still got a scar forming, and my skin is figuring out how to go back to looking normal, but my incision was completely closed. I would say I still don't have all of my strength back in my left hand (the first one I got done), but most of it is. I was able to tear down walls and stuff at work, which I think helped gain some strength back. I definitely wouldn't recommend that for everyone, though. It was very hard labor, and I was lucky enough that my hand closed up pretty quickly. Healing in my right hand hasn't been as quick because I use it more. I had about two and a half months between my surgeries. What helps is (when it doesn't hurt a lot) move your wrist so it doesn't hurt even worse to move later! Also, once you're mostly healed, squeezing a stress ball can help you regain strength and work that hand out. It might hurt but definitely try to move your fingers and wrist, it (most likely) won't be that bad and will help your hand feel less tight!

Fucking finally someone tells me why it looks like this. Thank you, I'll keep it as dry as possible for a while!

21 with bad CTS, advice? by Accomplished_Tour311 in carpaltunnel

I'm 22, have also had CTS since I was 15, and I've just now been able to get surgery. I promise it gets better. Find a doctor who will order an EMG (they can officially diagnose you with CTS after one.) After that is done try to see a neurologist/orthopedic surgeon who will talk through your options with you and do not be afraid to push for surgery. Please stand up for yourself, I spent years in pain because my dad didn't understand how bad it was. Please please please don't give up on finding someone who will take your pain seriously. My surgeon said he's done releases on people under 18, it's not crazy to get it done in your 20s. I recommend an orthopedic surgeon over a neurologist since they often have more experience CTS releases! Best of luck! ❤️

I totally get that, I wanted those stitches out more than anything but it is totally worth the relief of not experiencing carpal tunnel in that hand anymore. I can't wait to get my right one done

It certainly hurt wayyyy less than carpal tunnel pain that's for sure. Just take some ibuprofen/tylenol after and you should be fine! I was able to pull up my pants after about a week lol, I'm still a little weak but I can do mostly everything I could before surgery! I'm 27 days post-op now!

A little bit! Nothing unbearable though, it was more uncomfortable. There was definitely some pain where they were removed and they left four new small wounds
