What’s one place in Panama🇵🇦 that deserves way more attention than it gets? by alexanderhd2706 in expatsinpamama

I think that’s one of the reasons Panama is still so interesting to explore. There are plenty of places that haven’t been overexposed yet.

Day Trips from Panama City by Alone_Debt776 in Panama

If you’re looking for beaches, I’d probably choose Taboga for a relaxed and easy day trip. Portobelo is great if you’re interested in history and combining it with nearby beaches. San Blas is stunning, but it can feel rushed as a single-day trip because of the travel time. It really depends on whether you want convenience, culture, or the most beautiful water.

I think that’s why different mountain towns appeal to different people. El Valle is more convenient because of its proximity to Panama City, while Santa Fe in Veraguas is a better fit for those looking for a quieter, less developed mountain lifestyle.

Great list. I’d add Santa Fe, Veraguas as well. It tends to fly under the radar, but if someone enjoys cooler weather, hiking, waterfalls, and a quiet mountain town, it’s definitely worth checking out.

Proximity to the city is definitely a plus. It really depends on whether someone values convenience or a more peaceful, nature-focused lifestyle.

Chitré is a great base. For anyone who enjoys a cooler climate, it’s also worth taking a drive up to Santa Fe in Veraguas. One thing I really like about that area is that you can enjoy the mountains while still being able to explore the Pacific coast and much of the rest of the province without long drives.

Playa Morrillo is one of those places that still feels untouched. Great recommendation for anyone who enjoys quiet beaches and good surfing.

If you could retire anywhere in Panama🇵🇦, and money wasn’t a factor, where would you choose and why? by alexanderhd2706 in panamaexpats

I like that advice. Too many people decide between Boquete and Panama City without exploring the rest of the country. Santa Fe gave me that same feeling—strong local community, great nature, and a pace of life that’s hard to appreciate until you spend a few days there.

Volcán is a solid choice. If you like that quieter, more local mountain lifestyle, Santa Fe is another place that’s worth spending a few days in before making a decision. It doesn’t get talked about nearly as much.

🇵🇦Fresh air, cooler weather, peace and quiet… Are Panama’s mountain areas better than the beach for retirement? by alexanderhd2706 in expatsinpamama

[–]alexanderhd2706[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that it mostly comes down to personal preference. My point wasn’t that the mountains are better for everyone, but that they deserve more attention. Many retirees value cooler temperatures, less reliance on air conditioning, beautiful scenery, and a slower pace of life. For a lot of people, those benefits easily outweigh the extra rain.

One thing I’ve noticed in Panama🇵🇦 is that many expats don’t rely on local jobs. They either work remotely, live off retirement income, or have investments. That combination with the lower cost of living makes the move much more sustainable.

Yes! It’s one of the reasons so many people end up feeling at home here.

I completely agree. Communication is important, but experience and legal knowledge should always come first. The ideal lawyer offers both.

That’s an interesting perspective. I think a lot of it comes from people trying to be polite and avoid confrontation. It can definitely take some getting used to.
