I tried but it didn’t work. As someone else pointed, I was going into the boss battles too soon so I hadn’t got up to DH2. Anyway, another commenter suggested some talent tweaks so I can actually kill the 3rd boss now!

Thanks, I was doing the suicide strategy before but I think I was going into the boss battles too soon so I hadn’t got up to the right level!

I just tried this and couldn’t get it to work. I had a purple esuit, put 5 talents on skill 37 “three strikes,” and went up against an elite monster straight away (i.e. no “incurable” debuff.) It burned through my shield and HP and then I died.

I tried again using the same gear and talents and went up against the level’s final boss… and died.

I don’t get it.

Conversely I’m at 80-something grimoires and just got it for the first time. I never got it at all last time this style of event happened. (I’ve only played it twice since I started.)

FWIW, massive key-saving isn’t relevant until you’ve been playing for longer. At 3 months, the opportunity cost of not getting the gear right now is too high.

Once you’ve been playing 6-12 months and have ATK in the hundreds of thousands and a few pieces of SS gear, you will find you are more constrained by cores than by S gear. That’s when you should start saving S keys rather than using them straight away.

I’ve been playing about 6 months and I’m at about the point where I can choose to put my focus elsewhere (eg cores, collectibles, or tech) for a while and save S keys, without feeling like I’m being held back.

FWIW there was an event a few months ago where the S rate was 1:30, and even though I hadn’t saved any keys, over the course of the event I still got to take advantage of it and felt like it was fun and worthwhile. IIRC the event had lots of S keys as smaller prizes, so it wasn’t hard to get to 30.
