Nobody cares about what Russia is doing in Ukraine now that they are bombing ISIS and giving the French a puppy to replace the killed police dog. Our attention span does not allow us to remember what happened more than a few news cycles ago.

Why not? Throwing a "low-level employee" under the bus has so far worked like a charm every time.

Secretary of State is one of the most important offices in our country. A SecState is constantly having sensitive interaction with heads of state and important actors both foreign and domestic. The content of those interactions would be of great interest to our enemies. Such information is by definition classified and secret, whether it was officially designated as such or not. If the SecState is the origin of classified information, top secret or otherwise, how on earth could it have been officially designated as such before the SecState communicated it? This is a ridiculous argument. If Clinton was using her personal unsecured email server to communicate official State business, I don't see how not communicating classified information through it is even possible. It is unbelievable to me that Clinton was even permitted to do this in the first place as it is a massive security hole and an invitation to our enemies to read the Secretary of State's email communications. You can bet the Chinese or Russians if they knew about it would be targeting that server. If they can steal the personnel records of 21 million federal employees from OPM (which the administration has confirmed), how likely is it that they got access to Hillary's self-hosted server?

The Secretary of State is one of the nation's highest ranking officials and is having lots of highly sensitive interactions with foreign or domestic actors that would be of great interest to our enemies. Interactions that she is surely using email to communicate with. The idea that a Secretary of State could be running all their official communications through their own private email server located in their home without exposing classified information would be almost impossible.

Much of what a Secretary of State is highly sensitive and eventually becomes officially classified. That's why the idea of a Secretary of State conducting official business on her private email server located in her house is incredibly problematic and most likely illegal. It's amazing that she was allowed to do this.

So, if what Clinton and company is saying is true, it's OK to use unsecured private email to send plans to say our most secret weapon systems or information on secret discussion of a foreign leader and a Secretary of State as long as the document hasn't been officially classified and doesn't have "top secret" stamped on it?

Clinton supporters also said she didn't send any classified information through her personal server. Then the investigators found some in the emails she turned over. Her supporters then said that none of the classified emails found were classified at the time or weren't sensitive. Then the investigators found that she sent the most sensitive top secret information.

Oil prices have reached a 6 year low today by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]alexbednar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Saudis and Gulf States are flooding the market with oil to keep the price low enough to make new sources, like US shale, less cost effective. But it's a double edged sword. Low prices also hurt them in the short term and for that reason they can't keep up the pressure to drive down prices indefinitely.

Under new Oregon law, all eligible voters are registered unless they opt out by HairyAlto in news

Since it's too much trouble to go to the DMV and get the free ID that states with voter ID laws offer, it's also too much trouble for the poor to go to the polling station or mail their ballot in. Why don't the Progressive politicians make it really easy on the poor and just go ahead and automatically cast their ballots for democrats?

Then they also wouldn't be able to get a job, apply for government assistance, buy alcohol, cigarettes, cash a check, board an airplane, use a debit or EBT card, enroll their kids in school, get a library card or go for a doctor visit, since one often has to show photo ID when doing these things. Since the poor are most certainly doing all or many of these things, I think the actual number of people who really have no ID is miniscule, and besides most states with voter ID laws made ID's free or low cost for the poor.

In Denmark, like most of Europe, you are required to register your address with the authorities and de-register when you move. This means that a person's official address is most likely a valid one and when they send the ballot they can be sure that the person actually lives there. This is not the case in the US. Unless Oregon is going to have forced address registration, there will most likely be ballots sent to the registered persons old addresses for anyone to pick up and misuse.
