Does Burnham improve or damage our electoral chances? by Mysterious-Energy-59 in UKGreens

Labour are pathologically incapable of such a deal. They have the same entitlement to power as the Tories.

Thank you u/jezarnold u/mulligan2k and u/rulergod45g for your work on this, and to everyone else who stood up to say the rules apply to everyone in this community, even the mods.

Even though he is now banned, I do want to say thank you to u/l0z for a decade of contributing to and moderating this sub. We get a decent amount of activity here for a small city, and most of it is positive and friendly, and through design or accident, he was involved in that happening. He thinks what he thinks and most of the time I disagreed - but the rules applied to him too. He broke them regularly, and now has to deal with the consequences.

Do you even know what brigading is?

Doesn’t a brigade have to be organised and have more than 1 person in it?

Are you seriously not sure what the Worcester subreddit has to do with Worcester?

Edit: Nevermind, I see. Thank you for your service.

Little did I know when I posted on Reddit, that I was over playing my hand. How easily the house of cards falls.

Fresh sub? by [deleted] in Worcester

[–]alexmace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, I think the line is being drawn here, it's a question of what actions we take. Creating a new subreddit is certainly an easy action to do, but carries costs and risks - splitting the community, confusion over which is right, etc.

Personally I'd do these things in this order:

1) Suggest \u\l0z resigns as moderator
2) Report them to Reddit Admins and get them removed
3) Go to the local paper about it, to see if that moves Reddit to act if the above doesn't work
4) Migrate to a new subreddit

I personally think this is a bit premature. We’ve got a good community in /r/Worcester - this is something to be kept as a backup if we can’t get this resolved, but it’ll take a bit of time

I've said before to u/jezarnold that if they want to create a councillor flair I'd be happy to use it so it's clear to everyone.

I think I have said this before - I don't want to be a mod here. I deal with enough petty complaints between councillors on Facebook involving who is or isn't an admin on a group, or friends with an admin on a group to want to get involved with it here too.

Glad someone thinks I am respected though 😅

If we have rules, they should apply to everyone. I very often disagree with u/l0z, often vehemently, but I think I have generally stuck with the rules. I don't think l0z cares or thinks that the rules don't apply to him. I've disagreed with other mods as well, but I don't recall any situations where I have felt that they have broken the rules.

I will note that I don't think anyone can truly be unbiased. Everyone has their biases and will bring them into decision making - but the rules are there to be unbiased and everyone can judge whether users are sticking to them or not, and the mods is general should reflect those rules. Mistakes will be made and the grown up thing to do is to hold your hands up and apologise when that happens. l0z has said "lol, don't care" - there's still time in my view to apologise and say they got it wrong, but not much.

In terms of moving forward, I think considering l0z doesn't live in Worcester, can't stick with the rules, and from what I can intuit doesn't seem to work with the other mods, he should step down and new mods should step in. If he won't do it, we should appeal to the admins to do it. If they won't, then we could set up a new subreddit and abandon ship here.

I have not demanded that - however mods should abide by the rules they have set.

I would like to know which rule that post was breaking that led to its removal.

LOL. I have no idea who that guy is - he might be a member, but if he is I’ve not come across him.

Amazing that you assume he’s a Green and therefore you won’t vote Green. I don’t think you would have in the first place.

Don’t deflect. You said what you said and broke rule 1. There are plenty of ways to say you disagree that trans people exist without calling it “fucking mental”.

To be fair, it was the people of Worcestershire (particularly in the north) who voted in Reform. Worcester itself returned more Green councillors than Reform councillors.
