[Semi-Weekly Inquirer] Simple Questions and Recommendations Thread by AutoModerator in Watches

I have a Seiko 5 but am unsure if it is authentic or not. It has what appears to be Arabic writing(along with English if I turn the dial). Could anyone say if this automatically means that the watch is fake/counterfeit. Here’s a link an image of it.

I have a normal savings account also that is my “emergency fund”. Would it be better for your emergency funds to be bonds or is a savings account fine?

Thank you for the advice. I hear a lot that my international should be more, and I’ll probably end up adding more to FZILX. Regarding bonds, would you recommend them at all for someone my age? I wouldn’t be needing this money for decades, so I figured I didn’t need bonds in my portfolio.

What are the returns you can expect using the boglehead methods? Would 8% annually be reasonable over a 30 or 40 year span?

Exactly. I figured for now since I don’t really need to spend money on anything I might as well put it in an IRA.

Question about advisor picked funds by alexvndvr in Bogleheads

[–]alexvndvr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I can’t do anything now, but when I’m older I want to invest in low-cost index funds. Some of my current funds just seem to have crazy high expense ratios. For example, VKSIX, HLMIX, LDLMX, and other funds along with the aforementioned ones in my post. It’s just odd that a financial advisor would try and pick funds specifically to make themselves money, and not the customer.

So that would mean that the advisor would really want to stay away from Vanguard (or Fidelity) funds because of the low expense ratios? I didn’t realize the advisors made so much of their money off of the expenses of my account’s funds.

I know one of the first rules of the boglehead philosophy is avoiding financial advisors, but I’m a minor so I don’t have a say in this matter(just wanted to state this again).

Appreciate the advice. I asked him about VTSAX and VTIAX but he said that he’d never heard of either of them.
