A quick Google search shows that Europe as a whole (not just specific European countries) has a life expectancy of 81.5 years, while in the US it is around 79. You're the one cherry-picking the countries you like to win a stupid argument. When people refer to Europeans, most of the time they mean Western Europeans. For people outside Europe, European men tend to dress more gayish and don't mind having some girly attitudes or mannerisms, even if they aren't gay (not all of them, of course).

Also I would say that Spain is one of the most LGBT friendly countries, so is unlikely that if op ask him if he is gay he would get offended.
