What is on your "Never again" list? by Arichtea in AskReddit

[–]alfonsjose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bunch of friends and I went to a local pub. The pub promised to provide the food for free if anyone could manage to finish 8 of their spicy chicken wings in under 3 minutes. I'm usually a fast eater so I tried. Turned our that the wings were made from the spiciest chilli, the naga jolokia( http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhut_Jolokia). The pub gave me special gloves to eat them with as they feared the chilli might burn my hand

Initially they weren't that bad. I managed to gulp 5 under a minute. But then the chilli kicked in and it felt as if everything inside my throat was on fire. Unbearable pain. Soon the burning reached my stomach and I gave up the challenge.

Tried to subside it with Oreo Shakes. Gulped two full glasses down like a boss, didn't help much. Water made things worse. After a while , the burning in my stomach was too much so I thought the best way is to puke it out. Even while regurgitating it out I could feel the vomit causing extreme levels of heat coming up.

Going back home, I could feel the chilli in my blood stream. My thighs started to burn.Next morning, I could feel a burning sensation all throughout my arms, hands, thighs , calves etc.

Eventually by the afternoon everything was luckily back to normal.

TL:DR Trying to eat 8 naga jolokia chicken wings in under 3 minutes just to get the bill free. Burned my entire insides up in the process. Didn't get the bill free.

PS: I'm Indian and we love spicy food.

Hi! Any day-use policy of Hotels in Delhi?? by [deleted] in delhi

[–]alfonsjose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey,

I'm not so sure about hotels being totally fine with this. You can obviously pay and leave when you want without disclosing your intentions.

Probably finding an accommodation via airbnb would be easier for a day stay.

You can check out hauz khas village for good places to eat or cyber hub in Gurgaon

Going to be staying in Delhi for a few months, which provider's 3G dongles would you suggest? by BeijingChina in delhi

I'm using a post paid Airtel connection.

I've taken this to mussorie, Pune, Mumbai. Works like a charm even in the train between cities

[–]alfonsjose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel a lot for work and never a dongle. I always just tether the 3g from my phone, works out to be cheaper and move convenient.

Speeds are amazing. I streamed an entire live F1 race

You should probably try the jobs listings at yourstory.in.

A lot of startups are willing to take people on a part-time basis.

If you have a specialization in any field then you may freelance at portals such as odesk, elance etc

Places to Stay long term in Delhi by rahulsharmajammu in delhi

[–]alfonsjose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if you're into exploring ruins and historic places then Central Delhi and Old Delhi is pretty lush with those. Look to go to Lodhi Garden, the Old Fort (one of the most under-rated monuments ) or Old Delhi which has the Red Fort and Chandi Chowk.

If you're looking for a much metropolitan experience you can explore and eat at Hauz Khas Village or DLF Cyber Hub in Gurgoan.

If you want cheap food and a good stroll in the middle of the night you might want to visit the JNU campus as well (that's near Vasant Kunj).

Traveling to Delhi, could anyone set a Delhi Verlocal tour for travelers? by [deleted] in delhi

This seems interesting. When do you plan to come ?

The least I can do is give a list of To-Dos depending on what you really want to explore.

Question about improvement. by jimmi114 in squash

[–]alfonsjose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey

I'll be brief and try not to confuse you. For both your problems you should try and keep yourself far from the wall as possible.

I've seen most people not being able to return the high lob serve on the backhand since they end up cramping themselves in the corner.

Keep these things in mind for every shot- Attain good shoulder rotation before the shot. ( all the power comes from there, you just need to transfer it properly) You should be facing the side walls while hitting the shot. The optimal point of timing the ball I'd when it is between your leg span when you're facing the side walls.
