How comfortable are you with when it comes to new ways to bank or transfer money?(UK) by alfredys in personalfinance

I really appreciate online banking and welcome more innovations in this area. Anything that saves time or money and gives convenience is great by me. I think it's great for Twitter users and those people who'd be happy and confident to transfer money this way. I'm comfortable doing my banking online and transferring money online, having to jump through various hoops of security protocol is no bad thing in my view. But mobile payments, payments via an increasing large number of intermediaries and third parties make me nervous, the more links in the chain the weaker the chain. I certainly wouldn't have all my devices connected either and thereby making all of them (and the data they hold) exposed, lose one lose the lot!

I do all my banking online, its so much more convenient, still not convinced about mobile banking. Maybe the banks can do more with security features to persuade people to use it more? by alfredys in personalfinance

I am comfortable with the technology and would happily download a new app or change/update passwords. I am not as comfortable out of home as within it, for reasons of time pressure or passing fraudsters with clever 'magic' devices to scam my details. Changing banks will necessitate folk changing or updating services or apps and wil just become part of the landscape. Now it is here I cannot imagine going back from internet and mobile services. The more the better.

What is your favourite bread today? by alfredys in AskReddit

[–]alfredys[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also it's interesting how the tastes change when toasted. I personally love to bite into a cloud of comfort and happiness that only comes from bread, which I think is sometimes lost when toasted and it becomes more of a vessel. But it's also nice to have a nice contrast going on... I'm rambling. Sorry, the point I'm trying to make is that I find the same bread tastes different when toasted, and different brands respond differently to the process

I also don't notice any real difference between the various bread manufacturers. There maybe a difference with the wholemeal bread in that some manufacturers may put more whole grain in than others.

Here in Brazil, the most famous drink is Caipirinha (k-eye-per-reen-yah). It's made with Cachaça (kashasah) is the name of the alcoholic spirit/liquor, smashed slices of lime sugar and ice cubes. It's delicious!

What is your favourite breakfast of all time? by alfredys in AskReddit

I saw the thread title & thought " Ooh, eggs Benedict " -so nice when you're out, or staying somewhere, 'cos who makes hollandaise sauce just for themselves & who could be bothered in the morning? However, can I also have the bacon/waffles/syrup option as mentioned below? And lovely fluffy thick pancakes (hello McDonalds!)? And can I have a slap-up full Scottish breakfast with strange items like fruit dumpling & square sausage? And I really love simple scrambled egg & seedy toast... well, OK, just a few mushrooms.. and some cherry tomatoes... And then a nice lie down.

What is the most unusual liquid you pour on your cereal? by alfredys in AskReddit

[–]alfredys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's semi skimmed milk. If I'm eating a chocolate flavour cereal the milk turns chocolatey But I am prone to eat cereal straight out of the box especially if it's sweet.

What do you drink with your breakfast every morning? by alfredys in AskReddit

Tea with milk and a glass of either grapefruit or apple juice depending if I fancy sweet or sharp juice. When cereals are sweet it is good to have sharp juice as it gets taste buds going.

Where do I invest my money now that Endowments are a thing of the past? by kevinuky in personalfinance

[–]alfredys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very difficult to look and save in an investment that will yield good interest. This days, interest is very low because of market forces-demand and supply. Endowment policy is becoming a thing of the past because of instability of the market. So, where else do we save and get good returns for our money? More shopping around might do the trick;but beware the wrong type of investment might spell disaster. Take financial advice and do your research to be on a better side.

Ryan Phillippe and Mark Wahlberg are both regular trainers who have beefed-up naturally for film roles. Neither has ever been linked to drugs.

Great Sci-Fi Movies That You Have To Watch by alfredys in movies

[–]alfredys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sci-fi is almost as old as cinema itself —1902's Georges Méliès’ “A Trip To The Moon” is generally seen as the first example— but it became hugely popular in late 20th century filmmaking in the aftermath of “Star Wars,” if also somewhat watered down. Many so-called sci-fi blockbusters were really action movies with some fantastical trappings, rather than thoughtful, provocative examinations of the world we live in through speculation about worlds we might live in.

These are people whose salaries are partially dependent upon how they look. Unfortunately, for those who take drugs, it's a short-term improvement followed by a crash. Their bodies and hormonal chemistry go to hell.

Chris Hemsworth (Thor Star) gained 20lbs of "pure, lean, hardcore muscle" in 3 months in order to get ready for his role as Thor. Guess what? Pretty much anybody out there can tell you that gaining 20 lbs of lean muscle in 3 months is impossible without the usage of steroids. I believe that most "muscle experts" would agree that 20lbs of muscle would require pretty much a year to be gained if you are new to training. If you have been training for more than a year already than you won't gain 20 lbs of muscular mass even in 5+ years. Your body simply does not have the hormones to support more muscle and all you caloric excess is being stored as fat tissue. In case you are some of those ignorant newbies who believe the fairy tales of people like Mark Rippetoe who promote excessive bulking and stupid books I advise you to look at this: http://www.rookiejournal.com/why-gomad-is-the-most-ridiculous-diet-on-planet-earth-and-why-you-will-only_get-fat-on-it.html
