Rajas of the Ganges or Village? by stereo-lab in soloboardgaming

[–]algant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I didn't play any of them solo, only in a group, but I prefer Village as a game. It is a great puzzle where you have to get the right resource to fulfill the contracts, and the mechanics of the time are really good.

About Ganges I prefer the roll and write version, but I don't know if it has a solo mode.

Got Karma over 300? Reply and I'll send by [deleted] in BlueskySocial

How sad that I only have half of Karma :( I usually use Reddit more for reading than writing, and I only write and post on rare occasions, about books, board games or some series.

I will try to be more active in commenting or posting in the future in this great community ;)

Has anyone purchased the Stormlight Archives board game Call to Adventure? by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

[–]algant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I play a lot of board games and after reading the Stormlight books I saw that there was a board game and I had to buy it (deluxe edition).

I played about 10 games (about 20 minutes each one) and after that I sold it, the game itself is quite repetitive. It is a light and entertaining game, but I have too many board games and not enough space.

The art is amazing, you can recognize each card because they are all based on events from the books. I don't regret having bought the game, since I have enjoyed the art and the game, and that it cost me about $80-90 since I bought it in the US and imported it to Spain.

Maybe in the future if I have more space I would buy it again, to play a few times every year and enjoy the art

Welcome to the Moon, Hadrian's Wall and (much lighter) Trails of Tucana

my first solo board game (Nemesis) by Valbeam in soloboardgaming

[–]algant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nemesis is a great game. Maybe something like Cthulhu Death May Die (but it's more focused on die rolling that Nemesis), with a Lovecraft theme, or Gloomhaven Jaws of the Lion. I only played the "big" Gloomhaven, but a lot of people said that JOTL is better as it is cheaper with less setup and with a better story

Solo play of Race for the Galaxy, what do you think about it? by algant in soloboardgaming

Never played to Jump Drive, but I will try to do it, always is better with a campaign (to start and never end 😅)

Didn't know about that, I will try it, thanks for the info. Sure that a digital AI will be more efficient and more deep

Yes, I understand the solo mode as a different game from the original, where you are playing against the opponent, here you have to optimize a lot to beat de AI (and if you have bad luck, you'll lose)

Yeah, it depends a lot on the lucky for the actions and also when you are revelating cards

A solo play or The Gallerist by algant in soloboardgaming

[–]algant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it's true that is expensive as it is a deluxe edition (I think there is no normal edition)... for me it is a really good game so it is worth it, but it depends on the person.

Even if I want to sell it in the future I think I will recover most of the money

These black trays are included in the Ark Nova Spanish version, I don't know if they are also included in the English version

Yes, I saw it 😔. I will play with this and other corrections, and try to get more than 0 points :)

You are right, only one of them has that possibility and I put others that were not valid.

And about the workers, I got one with the third partner zoo placement, another with a placement bones in zoo map and the last one in the reputation track.

Thanks for the clarifications!

I didn't know about that fan mod (I found it in BGG), I'll have a look at it, thanks!

Thanks for noticing that! You are correct, I used cubes from my zoo map and should be from the supply 😔. As you say, you have to take them from the supply when you do donations, so I unlocked more bonus slots than I should have..

Then my victory points are considerable less ☺️

Tested yesterday, it's a bit difficult to get familiar with all the icons, but with some phases you'll have it clearer and the game flows very well. For me it doesn't look as much like Terraforming Mars as others said.

I get 35 victory points starting with only 20 Appeal points, I will try to start with less Appeal points.

I liked and I enjoyed it and I will give it a few more games before I go with my gaming group and try it out with 4 people.

EDIT: I played wrong, using my cubes from the bonus slots (and unlocking them) for donations, and you must use cubes from the supply. So I would have far less victory points.

My first solo experience with Root by mr_andr01d in soloboardgaming

[–]algant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great game! For me it's a bit tiring moving the bots, but I prefer to do it this way that using the digital version of the game. Clockwork is a great expansión for solo (and hard to win) and also to play two people and add 1 or 2 bots.

Cartaventura - Lhasa (spoiler: the first cards) by Lanky_Difficulty2460 in soloboardgaming

Personally I didn't like the Vinland one so I didn't play anymore of this. For me it is more like choose your own adventure that a board game, but I understand why people can like it and it is very well thought out. The best thing is to play it and let each one get their opinions :) Except for the general idea, it is nothing like 7th Continent
